Man, I remember that with David Love. Whatever it was about him he seemed to have a hex over Philly fighters. Perry Abney, Bobby Watts, Monroe and Bennie Briscoe. The hex ended with Parker though.

    Ike Ibeabuci vs David Tua

Good fight but not an absolute classic, well It is by HW standards, one I haven't visited in a while. Shane we didn't see Ike's potential, I would've loved to see him vs Vitali, Wlad and Lewis.

    1. Ike 10-9
    2. Even 19-19 (Tua 10-9) CLOSE
    3. Ike 29-28 (Ike 10-9)
    4. Ike 39-37 (Ike 10-9)
    5. Ike 48-47 (Tua 10-9) CLOSE
    6. Ike 58-56 (Ike 10-9) CLOSE
    7. Ike 67-66 (Tua 10-9) CLOSE
    8. Even 76-76 (Tua 10-9) CLOSE
    9. Ike 86-85 (Ike 10-9)
    10. Even 95-95 (Tua 10-9) CLOSE
    11. Tua 105-104 (Tua 10-9)
    12. Tua 115-113 (Tua 10-9)

Hard fight to score, Ike started to chance his strategy after a while. Ike's workrate made it so most of the rounds were close. Tua came on late whilst he was making Ike miss and countering.

George, I'm cheating a bit on this one. I scored this awhile back, but it was the second time I scored it. The first time around I had Ike up by a point. Anyways, here is my most recent card and I'm glad you saw the 9th like I did. Here is what I wrote.

    Round 1: 10-9 Ike
    Round 2: 10-9 Ike
    Round 3: 10-9 Ike
    Round 4: 10-9 Ike
    Round 5: 10-10 Even
    Round 6: 10-9 Tua
    Round 7: 10-9 Tua
    Round 8: 10-9 Tua
    Round 9: 10-9 Ike
    Round 10: 10-9 Tua
    Round 11: 10-9 Tua
    Round 12: 10-10 Even

    Total: 115-115 Draw

I think I agreed on only about half of Harold Lederman's card, but one thing we did agree on was that this is a very difficult fight to score. Not so much for the reasons he stated (that with heavy's it is hard to see inside work) but, my reasoning that, do you score for the heavier, eye-catching blows or the consistent ones. You have to find a happy medium for yourself - something no one else can show you. For instance the 9th round that Harold scored for Tua and I gave Ike. I thought Tua did very little that round but threw and landed a couple of haymakers. I was more impressed with the busier Ike and that jab of his, which I feel is one of the best jabs I've seen a heavyweight throw. Hard and pin-point. Anyways, I'm on my soapbox, suffice to say a great fight and I'll bet everyone has a different score on this one. Just a tough fight on the judge, let alone the combatants.

I don't have a consistent pattern, I do what I think is more effective, so either.
Here I thought Tua was doing the better work as Ike was missing most of his shots

I don’t remember thinking it was a hard fight to score....trying to dig up my old post before I click?

but from my eye on the ring card I gave 6-7-8-11 to Tua 116-112 Ike.... now let’s see if I can find my post on here?

Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai

    Choco SSR

    R1: 8 - 10
(Roman's usual slow start costs him. SSR very effective here. Brilliant body shot)
    R2: 9 - 10
(SSR a bit more active and effective. Roman picking up towards the end)
    R3: 10 - 9
(Headbutt! Close round, with Roman being more accurate)
    R4: 10 - 9
(Roman wins on activity rate. SSR getting more effective towards the end)
    R5: 9 - 10
(SRR the ring general here. Roman landing less. Some sneaky thudding body shots from SRR piling up)
    R6: 10 - 8 (Point deduction)
(SSR focused more on wearing Choco down than actually scoring here. Roman does the scoring instead)
    R7: 10 - 9
(Close round. Lots of grazing shots. Roman a bit more accurate and landing more, and Rungvisai's superior generalship doesn't catch up)
    R8: 10 - 9
    (Very close)
    R9: 9 - 10
(Wangek bulling Roman here. Controlling center ring and landing some thudding blows. Clear round)
    R10: 9 - 10
(SSR just not affected by Roman. Sneaky, thudding shots and superior generalship)
    R11: 9 - 10
(Roman not effective here. Neither landning much clean, but SSR is landing and controlling)
    R12: 10 - 9
(Very close, but Wanek a bit too inactive for my liking. Roman was more accurate anfd active)

    TOTAL = 113 - 113 DRAW

    Notes:
    • Awful commentary. Kevin Kelley's scorecard is atrocious.
    • My score is different to when i first watched live.
    • SSR is a fighter in the mold of Venice Bhorkorsor or Khaosai Galaxy (this win is better than any of Galaxy's actually)
    • Roman is too small for 115. 108 was when he was in his absolute prime.
    • Lots of sneaky headbutts from Wangek lol. He is a very strong ring general tho.

Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai

I really don’t see this as controversial as some....close? Yes! Debatable? Perhaps! But unles punchsrats are the guide, I have trouble scoring this for Gonzalez. I can see a draw, but that is about it.

To me this is really a fight of 3-5 rounds being the points of contention. Rounds 2-3-4-8-10 being the only disputable ones “in my eye/mind”. Of those close rounds I gave 2-8-10 to Rungvisai and 3-4 to Gonzalez.

    anyway my card
    1 Rungvisai 10-8
    2 Rungvisai (SSR 20-17)
    3 Gonzalez (SSR 29-27)
    4 Gonzalez (SSR 38-37)
    5 Gonzalez (Even 47-47)
    6 Gonzales 10-8 (RG 57-55)
    7 Rungvisai (RG 66-65)
    8 Rungvisai (Even 75-75)
    9 Rungvisai (SSR 85-84)
    10 Rungvisai (SSR (95-93)
    11 Rungvisai (SSR 105-102)
    12 Gonzalez (SSR 114-112)

    SSR 114-112 on my card

    Antonio Avelar vs Wilfredo Vazquez

Another epic slugfest! Boxrec, says Vazquez dominated the first 4 rounds...although I gave him taking them I wouldn’t call anything there a domination.

perhaps an early showing of Vazquez out skilling Avelar and closing by Avelar and his will taking over and controlling this fight.

round 5 is awesome to witness, with both guys getting dropped.

    1-5 Vazquez
    6-7 Avelar
78-75 Vazquez at the time of stoppage!

    Shea Neary vs Andy Holligan

What a fun little war! No feeling out round for these guys. Just put them in a phone booth and let them fly. Big punches thrown with bad intentions up till the end in round 6

I gave 1-4 for Neary and 5 for Holligan. 1/5 are very close so 5-0 or 3-2 Neary are realistic cards.

    Shea Neary vs Micky Ward

Another fun war between 2 limited guys with tons of heart, exchanging heavy blows for 8 action packed rounds? I didn’t understand the 20 point system in place and thankfully it didn’t matter, because while Ledderman and 2 judges saw it a 1 point fight and I did to, the 3rd judge had Neary up 8 and none of their score totals matched, so I imagine there is a lot of room to maneuver in scoring this system.

Neary 67-66 on my card at time of stoppage. Ward winning 1-4-7 and Neary winning 2-3-5-6.

    fun fight

Danny Romero Jr vs Ruben Luzaniacla

Decided to get better acquainted with Danny Romero Jr. as I believe I have only seen him against Tapia.

Anyway in just his 5th fight here he looks very sharp, although you can tell he is still very green/raw at this early stage. Having a solid amateur background though you can see his power and potential. He does a real nice job of sitting down on his punches and getting nice power.

Ruben battles hard and 1 is hotly contested by both guys. In 2 the power of Danny is breaking Ruben down, and Ruben goes down. He gets back up but does not seem to be ready to engage. Danny almost drops a surprised Ruben at the bell. Before 3 his corner waves it off!

Good showing by a young novice Romero!

    Masao Oba vs Orlando Amores

Another exciting fight I stumbled across on rings closet classic series! I must say whoever the lady is yelling in English “c’mon Oba C’mon Oba, Jab Oba jab jab jab” must be really fun to hang out with!

Amores shows some solid skill and outside of his wide looping power punches and his poor foot placement and balance has the makings of a solid contender. But Oba’s precise accurate punching is in full display!

Oba gets caught off balance in round 1 and Amores scores a flash KD, to take a 10-8 round. Oba begins to get his timing down and his accuracy and power drop Amores returning the favor to even up an exciting fight. Oba settles in and takes an exciting 3rd round and Amores is deducted a point for a butt. Amores is wild and out of position and is almost floored a couple of times in 3 as well. Amores comes out strong in 4 and begins to shift the tide again!

round 5 Oba is brutal and drops Amores under a ferocious assault. The ref waves it off all over!

this is as fun of a 5 rounder as I recall!

Danny Romero Jr vs Aureo Dominguez

Romero in his 8th fight but you can see him blossoming into the fighter he would become. Still a little green just needs a little polishing. He has not really been tested yet, so I am not sure how his defense is evolving. But his stamina/conditioning seem good as he goes into the 5th round in this one still carrying his power and skill. Dominguez shows some skill, but lacks the power to make this a contest. I thought he was pretty wimpy the way he reacted to 2 (borderline) low blows in round 1...but he shows some guts and good whiskers as he eats bomb after bomb. By 4 Dominguez is fatigued and lacks the arm strength to even properly defend himself. He almost gets dropped but again shows toughness in standing in there and absorbing all this punishment. Romero overwhelms him in 5 and drops Dominguez! It’s all over

    Terrence Alli vs Harry Arroyo

Oh yeah, now that’s a fight! Some exciting fights seem to fly by, but this one has so much action and back and forth that I was frequently surprised. I would glance at the clock thinking the round must be close to over and it still had 30-45 or even 1:00 left.

a hotly contested fight between a pressure fighter and a counterpunching boxer puncher. What do you get? In this case fireworks all night.

I have little confidence in my card, other than the fact that my result equals the judges. I found 7 of the 10 rounds so difficult to score I wanted to call about 5 of them even. So many ebbs and flows and momentum shifts.

one thing that really impressed me about Arroyo was how adept he is at fighting and countering off of the ropes. His jab was brutal and brilliant setting up the rest of his punches through it.

Tough gritty performance from 2 warriors laying it all in the line. Now this is a fight. Check this one out.

    RBR
    1 Arroyo
    2 Ali 10-8 KD (Ali 19-18)
    3 Ali (Ali 29-27)
    4 Ali (Ali 39-36)
    5 Ali (Ali 49-45)
    6 Arroyo (Ali 58-55)
    7 Arroyo (Ali 67-65)
    8 Ali (Ali 77-74)
    9 Arroyo (Ali 86-84)
10 Arroyo 10-8 hitting after the bell deduction (EVEN 94-94)

Arroyo by TKO 11 in an epic war!
