    • Close fight.
    • Neither fan narrative reagrding this fight is really true. Lara wasn't as negative as made out, and Canelo wasn't totally schooled like detractors would state. Lara had a lot of glancing work, and was pounded to the body despite landing.
    • Not really sad Lara didn't get it. The opportunity was there for him to take, but he was a bit too negative to seize the victory.

    Far from a robbery, but with the KD, I think Banke deserved more leeway than Zaragoza did. Glad they got a rematch, which I'll watch next!
    Awesome southpaw on southpaw fight. Not exactly ATG skills, but some unbelievable action. Great fight. Thanks Hank.

    Zaragoza had much better straight shots than Banke, his jab and movement troubled Banke. He did consistently try to keep it at range, he just failed.

    Banke was a decent counter puncher, hard hitter too. His right hook seemed to be his money punch and him pressing the action won him the fight imo.

    Need opinions.

    Here is the '67 heavyweight bout between Jerry Quarry and Thad Spencer. Scored on the California system of 1 point a round, an extra point for a knockdown and none for an even round. It's a good fight but look at the scores at the end of the fight after you yourself have scored it.

    Round 4: Quarry (scores a knockdown)
    Round 5: Quarry

    Awesome fight. Yet again.

    Banke seemed to have more issues here, despite stopping him. If that makes sense. He couldn't really land his shots as well, mostly due to Zaragoza changing his tactics and throwing more straight shots and not getting inside as much.

    Zaragoza just run out of steam in the end. He was pretty much in control and getting the better of the exchanges but Banke made him work for every round.

    *Was there a point deducted from Zaragoza in round 7? It looked like it but I didn't watch with sound and truth be told I couldn't be arsed to look into it.

    Ahhh, such a sad way for Carlos to see out his career. Zaragoza's journey just begins though! One thing that became immediately apparent was that we were dealing with a lotta fod in this one. Good fight, Zarate showed his experience in patches, but he didn't have the gas tank or speed to keep up a ferocious pace and make a war of it. Zaragoza showed some decent boxing here too, nice footwork and counters.

    Good fight, not as good as the first two though. Oh, except round 12. That **** was awesome. Literally just landed clean punches for 3 minutes straight.

    Zaragoza out-worked Banke for most of this imo. Paul seemed much sharper to begin this one, also showed a different style when he boxed on his toes, different trainer?

    This really is the best thread on the forum. I liked it back in the day when you could see who had the most posts etc., I think Flea was winning when it broke down. Never mind.

    Chad Dawson UD12 Adrian Diaconu

    Rather dull. Dawson just one-two, one-two his way to dominance and control. Adrian opens up a little in the third but is still struggling to make any impact against a taller, longer, faster, more powerful opponent. What can you do?

    Work the jab, that's a start, very close fourth, still dull, but competitive at least. Dawson wasting nothing though, only throwing the hard punches when he sees his man. It's admirable. More Wladimir Klitschko than Tommy Hearns though (Dawson's first fight with Emmanuel). Still, the sixth was the best of the fight, with a little infighting as a bonus.

    Big fun ninth, with The Shark landing some hard punches upon him. Dawson soon is back to his stalk and snipe strategy though.

    DAWSON:1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,11,12.
    ADRIAN:7,9.

    Dull fight, wide to Dawson.

    Dmitry Bivol TKO12 Sullivan Barrera

    Bivol had done some interesting things the year before but it's his 2018 victory over Barrera, then ranked #2, that made him.

    Good grief Bivol is fast, fast and heavy-handed, these are not glancing blows. He brings the right across with such speed and I wonder if this might not be the quickest two-piece in the sport right now despite his size, it's awesome. Barrera's trying to power-box but he's just being beaten to the punch repeatedly by a much quicker man. He needs to tune up his aggression or step off because he's just going to get hit by the looks.

    Ah, interesting, Bivol cut in the second and it's bleeding. It slows the Russian down for a spell, but he's soon back at it, jab, counter-hook, that lightning right hand, he wins the round regardless. Fast, organised footwork take him where he needs to be. Bivol starts going to the body in the sixth; that's good business. Layers, levels. How disheartening it must be for Barrera, getting hit in the head over and over and over again and all of a sudden he's getting hit in earnest to the body. Hasn't won a round yet for me.

    Bivol is too good for this to be boring, but holy **** it is one-sided. Bivol has no fear of punching with a guy, none at all, he's just too confident in his ability to be shy even against a banger like Barrera. That said, Barrera's jab is utterly useless. Bivol has 100% taken it away.

    The stoppage should have been in the ninth and to be fair, it nearly did, but Bivol had to wait to the twelfth. It came in part due to Barrera's bravery, as he tried to stop Bivol despite his being completely outclassed. Jab cracked him and the lighting right hand that dropped him. Referee pulls him.

    That was consumate.

    You probably could've argued a draw here, but I'm not at all uneasy with Zaragoza getting a UD. It was a close one.

    Real, real good fight. Not a great fight, but close to it. I have a feeling that if Zaragoza was 10 years younger, and could match the workrate he had in the Banke fights, we'd have witnessed one of the greatest spectacles of all time. Ugly fight from a technical perspective, but I'd recommend watching it. Both of these guys end up in wars. Boring? Nah it couldn't be that
