This fight shouldn't have been closer than the first, both sets of cards are pretty bad imo.

Mayweather looked superb, especially given he was in with an awful style for him. Compared to the first fight, he looked a million dollars, and he didn't look bad in the first fight either. Castillo was also good, but not approaching ATG level, winning the mid rounds was obviously very impressive.

Here's the way I scored their first fight.

    Round 1: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 2: 10-10 Even
    Round 3: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 4: 10-10 Even
    Round 5: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 6: 10-9 Castillo
    Round 7: 10-9 Castillo
Round 8: 9-9 Even (Scored it for Castillo but the ref deducted one point from Castillo for hitting on the break)
    Round 9: 10-9 Castillo
Round 10: 10-8 Castillo (the ref deducted one point from Floyd for use of his elbow)
    Round 11: 10-9 Castillo
    Round 12: 10-9 Castillo

    Total: 116-112 Castillo

I really felt Castillo simply exerted his strength over Mayweather throughout the second half of the fight.

    And their second fight.

Floyd Mayweather - Jose Luis Castillo II

    Round 1: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 2: 10-10 Even
    Round 3: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 4: 10-9 Castillo
    Round 5: 10-9 Castillo
    Round 6: 10-9 Castillo
    Round 7: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 8: 10-10 Even
    Round 9: 10-9 Castillo
    Round 10: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 11: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 12: 10-9 Mayweather

    Total: 116-114 Mayweather

Mayweather boxed smarter than their first fight, keeping on the outside and pot-shotting Castillo. No issues with the decision which were 115-113 (twice) and 116-113 for Floyd.

I wanted to watch a fight today that I thought would be competitive, so I tuned in to the Juan Roldan v James Kinchen bout. Well, it wasn't. This bout was fought on the undercard of the Hagler v Leonard bout and although I obviously read about it back then, I obviously forgot the dominance of Roldan in this bout. No point in tabulating my scorecard here, cuz I gave every round to Roldan before Eddie Futch retired Kinchen midway through the 9th. Roldan just came at him with that usual and customary strong-as-an-ox Argentine clubbing style and Kinchen could do nothing with it. Hard to believe a year later Kinchen would be losing a highly disputed decision to Tommy Hearns. Now that's a tough, tight fight if anyone would like to score that one.

. If you were being kind to Chico, you'd still be hard to pressed to find a round you'd give to him.

PBF was awesome here. Pretty Boy really was on another level. Chico looked placid and docile comparatively, he was well and truly out of his depth. When Floyd stepped in his own realm in the 7th it was hard to not feel sorry for Chico, Mayweather was so fast and so accurate. He found his range with the left hook late in the 6th, comes out and BAM. Chico down from the first punch, then Mayweather circles, feinting. He moves in and out effortlessly, landing some painful looking, Canto-esque hooks to the body. His right hand starts to come down as Floyd bounced in and out, still working his jab and hooking off the jab. Later into the round Floyd lands another exquisite punch on the button and Corrales is down again! Just before the round closes out, Floyd's all over him and beating him to the floor.

Round 10 wasn't pretty either. The way Floyd slipped that hook through Diego's guard was vicious. Must've been soul crushing to see all of your shots miss and then get slammed hard in the mandible with a brilliant straight right and going down again. It was sad watching Corrales get denied the chance to carry on and protestsl to his corner.

Did he even land anything clean the whole fight?

    ATG performace.

    *Denotes close round.

That KD, was well, strange. Obviously I have it 10-9 Hernández instead of 10-8, coz Floyd pretty much won easily and the KD wasn't even a proper KD. Floyd showing a real diverse offence here, very fluid combinations and the shots were nice and crisp, short and fast. He seemed eager to trade here, especially early on. The writing was on the wall for Floyd's great chin. He took some massive shots here, his aggression may have caused this but he tended to get hit more than you'd normally seen in a Floyd fight. Floyd late on started fighting southpaw, and was very effective with it. Floyd was consistently pumping out great performaces over world class opponents.

Mayweather looked really sharp again here, very very entertaining style. I wish he stuck with this, imagine the fights with Castillo and Corrales if he fought like this!

    1940-03-01, Undisputed MW Title Fight.

Armstrong really was unnatural. Crazy workrate, crazy toughness and strength, he didn't half mind using his head either! Garcia was game too, underrated win for Hank.

No card here, as some of the rounds weren't complete, but I had Armstrong comfortably winning the first 5, and he looked in control for all but the 10th, with 3, 7&9 looking close.
