Watched this a few years back. Haven't got my scorecard handy but I had a final scorecard as close as yours. I thought Medel had Harada hurt in that final round.

Ruben Olivares v Kazuyoshi Kanazawa 2

I think I missed a round when I was watching this a couple of nights ago due to tiredness (and because there were no indicators of which round it was) which messed up my scoring so I had to go back and rescore it.

Regardless, I thought Olivares took over from around the 7th when he turned the match into a full-on firefight. Kanazawa couldn't keep up with the pace Olivares was setting and had to throw more than he was probably comfortable throwing just to stay in the fight. Only in the 13th did I really feel Kanazawa wrestled back any control but he spent himself completely in the process and as soon as the 14th started, it was clear he had nothing left.

    Terrific and exhausting battle.

1 10-9 (nice left hook from Ruben edges an otherwise even round)
2 9-10 (close. Kanazawa impressively elusive)
    3 10-9
    4 9-10 (close)
    5 9-10 (close)
    6 10-9 (close)
    7 10-9
    8 10-9
9 10-9 (close. Kanazawa doing a lot of pressing and mauling but Olivares with the cleaner shots)
    10 10-9 (close)
    11 10-9
12 10-9 (Olivares clearly on top now and Kanazawa seems to be wilting under the pressure)
13 9-10 (sensational round! Kanazawa comes back, going all out to try and stop Olivares but Ruben weathers the storm and comes back at an exhausted Kanazawa)
    (126-121)
14 Olivares TKO Kanazawa (a spent Kanazawa is put down 3 times before it's stopped. He had nothing left after the 13th)

I thought so too, Al. I just loved this fight. If it wasn't for the fact that we know the result I think it would have been a nail-biter for us between Harada's hustle and Medel's counters. Just two outstanding technicians out there.

D ick Tiger vs Nino Benvenuti

Not sure why I have never sat down to watch this before. Exciting...no....interesting and entertaining...yes! Decent technical matchup and fun enough of a 10 rounder to check out. Nino May have had an issue w/his right hand as was mentioned in the post fight comments, which may explain why he did not engage as much as I wanted him to or hoped he would. Nino keeps the range behind his jab, but seldom loads up with combos or sustained attacks. While Nino has the range Tiger has the timing and is the aggressor in this one and by virtue of that takes my card and the judges...

judges 6-3-1/7-2-1/6-4 all reasonable and I can see all of them as realistic. 4-8-9-10 can go to Nino or Even and Tiger pretty much secured the other 6. Good fight not great but a fun worthwhile watch.

    1 Tiger
    2 Tiger
    3 Tiger
    4 Benvenuti
    5 Tiger
    6 Tiger
    7 Tiger
    8 Even
    9 Benvenuti
    10 Even
    6-2-2 Tiger on my card

    Alejandro Gonzalez v Kevin Kelley

Superb fight with the ever entertaining Kelley giving his all in defense of his title but coming up short against a determined challenger. Kelley's corner did the right thing by pulling him out - his eyes were badly damaged and he couldn't see plus the way he got beaten up at the end of the 10th I don't think he would have survived the next round.

Round 8 was one of the best rounds I've seen for a long time (well, since this morning anyway when I watched round 13 of Olivares-Kanazawa 2!)

If you haven't seen this before, take some time out to watch it - a nice little addition to @George Crowcroft's FOTF Featherweight Fun? Join us @PhillyPhan69, join us...

    1 10-9
    2 9-10
    3 9-10
    4 10-9 (very good action)
    5 10-9
6 10-8 (great action - Kelley goes down but fights back hard)
    7 10-9
8 8-10 (awesome round! Kelley getting battered at the start and looking like he could get stopped, then turns the tables and drops Gonzalez and batters him on the ropes before they trade evenly for the rest of the round. Best round of the fight and must have been a contender for round of the year 1995)
    9 9-10
10 10-9 (Gonzalez batters Kelley again and nearly stops him but the bell saves Kelley)
    (95-93)
Gonzalez TKO Kelley (Kelley's corner pulls him out of the fight with both eyes badly damaged)

    Sonny Liston v Leotis Martin

I've watched the highlights reel on this one - as I'm sure we all have - but never watched or scored the fight in its entirety. Here we go, Nevada's 5 point must system in effect.

    Round 1: 5-4 Martin
    Round 2: 5-5 Even
    Round 3: 5-4 Liston
    Round 4: 5-3 Liston (scores a knockdown)
    Round 5: 5-4 Liston
    Round 6: 5-4 Liston
    Round 7: 5-4 Liston
    Round 8: 5-5 Even
Round 9: Martin knocks out Liston

Total (through 8 completed rounds): 39-34 Liston

Actual scores were 38-36, 38-35 and 37-34 all for Liston. Despite my score, Liston was coming apart at the seams during that 8th round. This was a creaking Liston in '69. His jab throughout the fight was pushed, not a reflexive type punch. His power was evident in close, but by the 7th and 8th even that was flagging badly. Martin, on the otherhand, had a snappy jab and was a good counter-puncher. I always say the bane for every clubbing slugger is a counter-puncher with a good jaw and Martin proved it here over a very jaded Liston.
