I like watching Yuh more than Chang.

Chang was better and a sight to behold once he really got going...but something about his style never really sat right with me..He could be quite sloppy and messy at times...which in part was why he was so hard to beat on his best day.

Yuh is a great little textbook boxer...in with the right opponent its round after round of very aesthetically pleasing stuff for me personally.

I guess the fact that Yuh was challenged a lot more by his opponents than Chang was helps to make Yuh's fights all the more interesting as well.

If you like seeing heart and passion displayed in the ring with a nice well-rounded action oriented game, Yuh's a pleasure to watch.

Just as an aside, IMO Yuh finished his career undefeated. Something I don't think Ricardo Lopez did, and Lopez faced the bigger junk of the two. Just saying. :good

 

:happy It's insane. I've never seen as many punches thrown in a single fight than the first Yuh/DeMarco bout. The rematch was pretty entertaining, too.

This. Exactly this. I prefer Yuh's more controlled style, the majority of his offensive work seems more deliberate and calculated than Chang's.

 

What's amazing is that they go to war for the first ten rounds and then you think they will have to taper off, but they actually kick it up a gear in the last third of the fight. De Marco starts coming on and overwhelming Yuh with work rate, and then Yuh somehow finds the way to explode with whirlwind flurries and turn the tide with a barrage of uppercuts. Great stuff, and the crowd really loved it.

I've got to hand it to De Marco though, the guy ate a ton of punishment and still kept throwing. If ever a man deserved a title, it was De Marco that night. Hell of an effort. :good

 

I kinda feel sorry for Yuh in a way. He didn't possess the power of a Michael Carbajal or Humberto Gonzalez, and it meant he had to really work for every single win during his title reign. What should have been a routine title defence against De Marco turned into 15 rounds of ridiculous exchanges. Just as De Marco deserves credit for staying in there, so does Yuh, because keeping up that pace for 15 rounds must have been difficult for even the greatest and most durable of champions.

 

Could this possibly get uploaded gentlemen..Im glad you guys talked about it, I probably never would have seen it because I thought Id seen the most important Yuh fights there were to see and I was probably going to leave it at that.

Definitely. Yuh did an excellent defensive job in there which takes a tremendous amount of energy to pull off when your opponent is throwing with such volume. In a way I'm glad Yuh had no punching power, because we got to see more of his other qualities shine through. :good

 

Yuh-DeMarco I is definitely amongst the best fights I've ever seen. You're sure to enjoy it.

How do you see a non-choked Watt faring?

I prefer Chang, there is something about Yuh I don't like, although I aint seen that much of him.

 

I much prefer Chang. He may seem sloppy at times, but his innate sensibilities were second to none.

 

I don't think watt would ever do well against Arguello, beyond landing a lot of punches.he just doesn't have the mobility, power or reflexes to stop Arguello punching holes through him.

 

Who would you guys say most resembles Yuh in style?.


He reminds me of Kevin Finnegan and Davila, though he doesn't really look too much like them as far as body rhythm etc goes.Those two are more slower paced finesse fighters, while Yuh is more about volume, fundamentals and combinations, but the lack of fight changing power or too many obvious physical gifts allied to a gritty precision textbook approach is similar.

Davila is a good shout, in his prime he was pretty busy, although more with his feet and movement than upper body movement and punches. I'd say they are pretty similar, although I'd say Davila was smoother.
