Clearly, you must be referring to their first fight, right? I know we did one on their second fight not too long ago. Definitely have it penciled in, dude.

    Right, the first one.

My score for the second one is in its way though.

Vicente Saldivar v Kuniaki Shibata (featherweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Shibata
    Round 2: 10-9 Saldivar
    Round 3: 10-9 Shibata
    Round 4: 10-10 Even
    Round 5: 10-9 Saldivar
    Round 6: 10-9 Saldivar
    Round 7: 10-9 Saldivar
    Round 8: 10-9 Shibata
    Round 9: 10-9 Saldivar
    Round 10: 10-9 Shibata
    Round 11: 10-10 Even
    Round 12: 10-9 Shibata
The Saldivar corner retires him at the start of the 13th

Total through 12 completed rounds: 115-115 Even (actual scores 117-116 and 2 scores of 116-114 all for Shibata)

Man, this is the second time I'm seeing this fight and neither time did I have it for Shibata. For me, it is so perplexing watching him. It was the same for me in the Marcel fight. He will explode and be in command and then just go into a lull and do nothing, allowing the other fighter to take control. In this bout - on my card - he would go into the lull and Saldivar would be content to outjab him and toss in the occasional straight left from his southpaw stance. It wasn't spectacular but it was enough to get by against an opponent who kept hitting that 'off' switch. Rounds 10 and 11 were about the best because that's when Shibata realized the success with a lead right against his southpaw opponent. Those rounds along with the 12th was where he did his most facial damage to Saldivar. If I didn't know the result already I would have been surprised at the retirement because Saldivar was still fighting back. But I gotta tell you, Shibata frustrates the hell out of me.

    Inoue vs Kokietgym

After a couple of gimme defences Inoue gets to prove his top ranked status against he excellent Kokietgym, a guy who's justifiably in the top 5 of the division a the time.

Inoue cruises off to a commanding lead but the fight increasingly gets more competitive and Inoue has to ship some real punishment and fight back against some huge rallies.

But then in round 10 Inoue leaps off his stool like the second coming of Aaron Pryor and just unleashes bomb after bomb until he drops his man and secures the ko.

    Inoue vs Kono

Again Inoue fights a worthy challenger in Kono who was justifiably word rated.

Kono tries to set the pace ever single round. He comes out firing looking to get Inoue to back up, but he never is able to hold the centre ring.

Inoue lands too accurately and too often.

In round 6 Kono takes one power shot too many and crumples in the corner of the ring. Somehow he manages to survive the count but Inoue very quickly finishes him off after that.

    McDonnell vs Inoue

Inoue has spent a year making weak defences and has outgrown the now legendary division, somehow missing the emergence of the new fab 4.

But he again goes in against the top rated fighter in the world and the unified title holder and for the first time he's against the bigger man.

Ultimately this write up lasted longer than the fight.

Inoue cuts through him like a hot knife through butter.

    Inoue vs Payano

Inoue isn't here to mess about, in more ways than one.

After taking out the number 1 he enters the world boxing series, his first fight is against the solid as **** Payano.

Again Inoue takes less time knocking out his man than I do writing this.

Inoue has found his perfect weight.

Huge punch perfect ko in the first.

    Inoue vs Rodriguez

Inoue here against a peak unbeaten opponent who's healthy at the weight and never even been dropped.

The first round is pretty competitive with Rodriguez pressing and putting Inoue onto the back foot.

Second round is anything but as Inoue drops him with a head shot, again with a body shot and for the last time with a flurry of shots.

Inoue looks every bit P4P right now and the decision to leave SFLW looks justified.

    Jimmy Paul vs Robin Blake

    1 Paul
    2 Blake
    3 Blake
    4 Blake
    5 Blake
    6 Blake
    7 Blake
    8 Paul
    9 Paul 10-8 knockdown
    10 Paul
    11 Paul
    12 Paul 10-8 knockdown
    13 Paul
    14 Paul wins by TKO

    124-121 Paul

A fight of two halves, Blake had the best of it early on by staying out of harms reach. Constantly circling to his right to avoid Paul's well known dangerous right hand. For me Paul just wasn't throwing enough punches, and even though Blake's punches wern't really that hard or clean effective punches. He was throwing twice as many more punches as Paul, and i can't give a round to someone landing 2 clean right hands a round.

The 8th round is when the fight started to turn around, Paul started to up his workrate. And was now starting to land his jab and right hand, surprisingly when Paul knocked down Blake in the 9th round it was from a left hook. The last Jimmy Paul fight i see he was primarily throwing the right hand, but in this fight his left hook was the most effective weapon against Blake.

Pretty much from the 9th round on it was all Paul as Blake had little to offer, his punches just had nothing on them. And Paul kept walking him down knowing that Blake's punches could no longer hurt him.

Blake was once again dropped in the 12th round by a left hook, and it was just a matter of when Paul was finally going to get to him. And finally the referee had seen enough in the 14th round and stopped the fight.

Overall a pretty good fight it was quite exciting to see Blake trying to hold on to his early lead.

D, this is how I had it:

    Round 1: 10-9 Paul
    Round 2: 10-9 Blake
    Round 3: 10-9 Blake
    Round 4: 10-9 Blake
    Round 5: 10-9 Blake
    Round 6: 10-9 Paul
    Round 7: 10-10 Even
    Round 8: 10-9 Paul
    Round 9: 10-8 Paul (scores a knockdown)
    Round 10: 10-10 Even
    Round 11: 10-9 Paul
    Round 12: 10-8 Paul (scores a knockdown)
    Round 13: 10-9 Paul
    Round 14: Paul stops Blake

Total through 13 rounds: 126-121 Paul (actual scores: 126-121, 127-119 and 129-117 all for Paul)

Jimmy Paul's punches - although fewer - were like they were laser-guided. He made them all count and was really zeroing in on Blake with that lead right. He really took his time in this fight and it came up dividends. Blake was his all-action self but he was up against it here.

@Dynamicpuncher , BTW, if you haven't seen Blake against Adolfo Medel, you are in for one treat. Put the seat belt on for this one.

    Inoue vs Donaire
    1:10-9
    2:9-10
    3:9-10
    4:10-9
    5:10-9
    6:10-9
    7:10-9
    8:9-10
    9:9-10
    10:10-9
    11:10-8
    12:10-9

    116-111

What a great fight this was. Very competitive and even though I have Inoue taking a fairly comfortable decision with a knockdown, it was anything but.

Donaire was dangerous in there and at times would hurt Inoue and put real punishment on him.

Inoue had to show his full range of skills here to tough out a great victory.
