    Mike Mccalum-Donald Curry

Intersting fight, and one which Donald was doing very well,a dn probably winning until the knockout. He was using his jab effectively and rocked Mccallum fairly a couple of times with his right hand. But Mccallum great technician that he was set up a great left hook which he disguised behind an uppercut. He caught Curry going back with while his hands were down and that was all she wrote. Just a picture perfect punch.

Does my scorecard seem crazy? There were a lot of close rounds, but i honestly thought Spoon edged them. Tim's superb guard in the first 8 rounds was working very well to block a great deal of Larry's famous jabs. Also Spoon was landing the cleaner, harder punches, which stunned the Champion several times. In the 9th Spoon badly hurt Larry, but gassed & was later stunned in the round, but still took it overall. The final 3 rounds i gave to Holmes, because he landed more punches, & they were cleaner, while a overconfident Spoon decided to showboat.

I'm glad somebody else agrees. :good

Aaron Snowell (Assistant Trainer of Tim Witherspoon) totally agreed with my analysis of why Spoon won. It saddens me that Spoon didn't get the decisions he earned against Holmes in '83, & Mercer in '96. Were the judges scoring for jabs blocked by Spoon? I believe so. :verysad

This is a fair score :good

When I scored it, I felt I was being way too generous to Toney and giving him credit for the counter potshots he would do. I had it a draw. But if I were to watch it without scoring it, I would've gave rahman the nod. His bodywork, jab, and inside fighting won it imo. They should have a 3rd fight this year. I'd like to see that.

Just watched the first Robinson-Turpin fight in its entirety, surprisngly on youtube.......I had it 9-5-1 for Turpin. The first five went to Randy, then Robinson took four of the next five albeit barely, and then Turpin ran the tables on him in the last third of the fight. Not a hell of a lot of clean punching, rather a lot of jabbing and then Turpin falling in and punching with his free right hand. Not a great fight, but a piece of history.

    Eubank-Watson I

    R1- Eubank
    R2- Eubank
    R3- Watson
    R4- Even
    R5- Eubank
    R6- Watson
    R7- Even
    R8- Watson
    R9- Eubank
    R10- Even
    R11- Eubank
    R12- Watson

    116-115 Eubank

A game of physical chess between two well-muscled competitive confident youngsters with some great skills, lots of glove/eye feinting and rolling shoulders.

Watson keeping Eubank busy with the jab and Eubank only able to counter it one time (catching it and countering with a winging hook in the 3rd), while Watson is able to counter Eubank's lunges perfectly in the 6th, 8th and 12th. Watson also landed a very long lead right hand flush and hard in the 3rd, the kind of shot Eubank couldn't throw ie an educated punch from range - Eubank had to be very sneaky with his right to get it in.

But Eubank was streets superior in the footwork department - fleet and fast in the feet and able to move in and out of range, dance around and angle attack; making Watson appear very plodding, even though Watson was trying to inch forward steadily in a more educated fashion.

All in all, not enough from Watson. Eubank's accuracy with short shots early is very impressive against Watson's known tight defense, and the 7th is an incredibly display of defensive reflexes from Eubank.

Aye it is an ugly fight.

You seen the fist Fullmer fight, what do you think of that?

I think thats a great display in off-setting an opponent with a clever strategy on Fullmer's part.

Jirov vs Toney. Great fight. Shows how great and resilient Toney was, fending off all that pressure from a beast like Jirov. also doesnt look like jirov has a stool while toney does

    Not sure.

When you watch it, watch for Fullmer's jab and how it offsets Ray.

Me too, it would be a good payday for both, & still be entertaining now they're both shot.
