@Saintpat , another way to narrow it down even more is by inputting keywords essential to the subject matter. For instance, under the search with the box checked 'this thread only' I put in 'Yaqui Spinks' and 13 posts showed up. 4 of which were scorecards for the fight. Hope this helps.

Alejandro Gonzalez v Orlando Salido (10 rounds)

    Round 1: 10-10 Even
    Round 2: 10-9 Salido
    Round 3: 10-9 Salido
    Round 4: 10-9 Gonzalez
    Round 5: 10-9 Salido
    Round 6: 10-10 Even
    Round 7: 10-9 Salido
    Round 8: 10-9 Salido
    Round 9: 10-10 Even
    Round 10: 10-9 Gonzalez

Total: 98-95 Salido (actual scores: 95-95, 96-95 and 97-95 for a majority win for Gonzalez)

When I saw this fight out there I thought, 'bombs away.' But nothing could be further than what had actually took place. This is not a slam-bang affair but a very tight 'what are you looking for in a fight' type of thing. Do you put more emphasis on the boxer or the harder puncher? This fight really rides a fine line. I read that Salido was a last minute sub for Jorge Paez, so Salido, with a 14-7 record had to look like easy meat. But he was just starting to come into his own as a fighter. Gonzalez trudged through the 10 rounds looking for the one punch, whereas Salido, IMO, boxed brilliantly. Indeed, I found myself making comparisons to Albert Davila the way he was boxing. I won't gripe on the decision because it's like I said, 'what are you looking for in a fight?' And with 3 Even rounds, one can see how tight this could be. I felt Salido deserved this fight. I don't know if judges sometime see the big name only, but Salido demonstrated, despite coming up the hard way, he was no easy meat, as his career went on to prove.

I didn't know these two fought interesting match up, i always liked Gonzalez and Espinoza two very underrated Featherweights from the 90s IMO.

I remember watching it, good competitive fight. I scored it for Cobrita personally.

It was interesting for me - to look back at earlier fights of Salido and find out, that for most of his career He wasn't that pure pressue fighter He eventually developed into, setting high pace from the get go, forcing his way inside and trying to wear down his opponent.

For most of his career, He was mixing things up, often fighting off back foot trying to counter. Part of it was him fighting at higher weight I'm sure. Probably didn't always have opportunity to train full time and go through real training camp to get himself in tip-top shape. Life of a B-side fighter often means fights on 1-2 weeks notice. Some of it was probably gaining confidence and just figuring out what worked for him. I know He mentioned in his Best I've Faced interview that He reggreted giving Juan Manuel Marquez too much respect.
One way or the other, very interesting and memorable career.

So what's a good Salido fight to start with? Never seen him.

Have to finish Jordan-Akins first. Dreadful wrestling match so far.

Salido vs Vargas was arguably the best fight of the last decade IMO.

There's another really good one, against Terdsak Jandaeng. Vicious back and forth war.

His two fights with Juanma are great, and apparently so is the Micky Roman rematch but I haven't seen it.

Watching Salido vs Martinez I, Salido vs Martinez II, then Bandito Vargas vs Takashi Miura... and then finally - Vargas vs Salido that George mentioned, is what I'd recommend. All were gruelling, brutal and dramatic fights.
Maybe it will be controversial - particulary here among all the boxing historian - I would put Bandito vs Miura and Salido right up there with Chacon vs Limon and Boza Edwards, when it comes to great Super Featherweight action fights.

Yes, those were great as well. Roman fight was not quite on that level imo. That's when Siri hit the wall. Martinez fights are very underrated though, the second one in particular.

Ha. It might be slight exaggeration, I don't know, but those 2 fights - Bandito vs Miura and Bandito vs Siri - were special. There's no way You won't enjoy them.
Let me know what You think and tag me if You may. Will be interesting to hear your take.

Saw this post and first thought was ‘When did they fight?!’; second thought was ‘Must have been a great fight’ and then I read your review. I thought the same when I watched Juan Manuel Marquez against Salido - was expecting more.
