This was my scorecard of Lewis/Mercer when i watched it last year.

    Lennox Lewis vs Ray Mercer

    1 Mercer
    2 Lewis
    3 Mercer
    4 Lewis
    5 Mercer
    6 Mercer
    7 Lewis
    8 Lewis
    9 Mercer
    10 Lewis

    95-95 Draw

Me and Harold Lederman had the exact same score but we scored certain rounds differently. That just tells you how many swing rounds their were in this fight. The only round that left me scratching my head was the 4th round ? in which Lederman scored for Mercer ? it was a very memorable round and Mercer did have his moments but i thought Lewis won that round pretty clearly so i was surprised Lederman had that round for Mercer.

What's funny about this fight is that it's the exact opposite of what you'd expect. You would expect Lewis to be having success with the jab, and Mercer would have to pull it out with power punches. But actually it was the other way around, Mercer was very accurate with his jab and actually out jabbed Lewis, where as Lewis was the one that had to pull it out with power punches especially the uppercut which was always an eye catching punch for him.

Overall this fight was razor thin close and i think 6-4 either way or a draw would of been fair result it would've been nice had it been 12 rounds or seeing a rematch.

Had it 95-95 as well. Mercer demonstrated that educated jab combined with head movement triumphs reach alone.

Cleveland Williams v Billy Daniels I (Miami 10 point system)

    Round 1: 10-9 Daniels
    Round 2: 10-9 Williams
    Round 3: 10-10 Even
    Round 4: 10-9 Daniels
    Round 5: 10-9 Williams
    Round 6: 10-9 Williams
    Round 7: 10-9 Williams
    Round 8: 10-9 Williams
    Round 9: 10-9 Williams
    Round 10: 10-9 Williams

Total: 98-93 Williams (actual scores: 98-93, 98-91 and 97-92 all for Williams)

Nothing stupendous about this fight that would have me recommend it, I just wanted to see it. A good 10-rounder between two grafters of their trade. Daniels wielded a crazy right hand that caught Cleve good in the 1st round, but by the middle of the fight Cleve settled into a rhythm of charging and pounding Daniels on the inside. And he really had Daniels hurt in the 6th because of it. One thing to note about Cleve, his jab really needed some gym time. It was a weapon that was pushed rather than something that flowed. Man, if he could have developed that it would have been something.

    Bassa Vs McAuley I

Great battle and very difficult fight to score. I was surprised I had McAuley so ahead but even though Bassa was the better boxer Dave seemed to land the more significant blows up until the 13th. Some odd ref calls as well, a second knock down in round 3 against Bassa that seemed pretty clear and a knock down in round 6 not counted against Bassa. Seemed a bit ironic Bassa got a point taken for headbutts when the third round knock down was from a McAuley butt which really changed the whole fight. Seemed to take Fidel most of the fight to get over it. Then Dave started to gas and Bassa struck, great finish! Both impressed me but Bassa definitely seemed like an underrated champ, a very neat fighter. I have to watch the second fight between them now.

    1- Bassa 10 McAuley 8

    2- Bassa 10 McAuley 9

    3- Bassa 8 McAuley 10 - no 2nd knock down counted

    4- Bassa 9 McAuley 10

    5- Bassa 9 McAuley 10

6- Bassa 9 McAuley 10 no knock down counted

7- Bassa 8 McAuley 10 point taken from Bassa

    8- Bassa 10 McAuley 9

    9- Bassa 7 McAuley 10

    10- Bassa 10 McAuley 10

    11- Bassa 9 McAuley 10

    12- Bassa 10 McAuley 9

    13 - Bassa KO McAuley

    Bassa 109 - McAuley 115

Prince’ Naseem Hamed vs. Marco Antonio Barrera Tapia

    Round 1. Barrera 10-9
    Round 2. Barrera 10-9
    Round 3. Hamed 10-9
    Round 4. Barrera 10-9
    Round 5. Hamed 10-9 (close)
    Round 6. Barrera 10-9
    Round 7. Barrera 10-9 (close)
    Round 8. Hamed 10-9
    Round 9. Barrera 10-9
    Round 10. Hamed 10-9
    Round 11. Barrera 10-9
Round 12. Draw 10-10 (Barrera win the round but deducted a point)

    Barrera 116-113 Hamed

Decided to watch this following a discussion in the General forum vis-à-vis how tight this encounter actually was.

This was a very watchable fight between two excellent boxers with very different yet complementary styles. Naz definitely had the upper hand in power and agility but Barrera better able to think his way through a fight and with superior accuracy of punches.

Barrera started really well, circling clockwise avoiding southpaw Naz’s powerful left hand and winning the battle of the jabs through the opening couple of rounds. Whenever Hamed came into range, Barrera unloaded with short, sharp combinations to keep him honest.

Hamed was having issues breaking through Barrera’s high guard. He simply couldn’t get close enough without being tagged and was limited to landing single punches most of the fight. I think he was expecting Barrera to be open and ready to counter but Barrera was clever, picking his moments attack splendidly.

Naz himself proved difficult to hit at times, showing superb speed and reflexes to avoid being caught clean with power punches. Only once during the fight - in the 8th round - did Barrera do any real damage by wobbling Hamed momentarily with a short right hook.

With both boxers looking to counter the other, it turned into a bit of a chess match with both boxers having their moments in throughout the fight.

A real interesting match up and, whilst Barrera clearly won this bout, Hamed was always in the fight and never looked in any considerable trouble at any point. A real cat and mouse affair.

    Judges scorecards:

    115-112
    116-111
    115-112

    All scored for Barrera

    Troy Dorsey vs Harold Rhodes

    1 Dorsey
    2 Dorsey
    3 Rhodes
    4 Rhodes
    5 Dorsey
    6 Rhodes
    7 Dorsey
    8 Dorsey
    9 Dorsey
    10 Dorsey wins by TKO

    87-84 Dorsey

What a fun fight this was how can you not love Dorsey as a fighter ? literally every fight he has win/lose is a FOTY candidate and he always gives it 110 percent in the ring.

A few things i want to say about this fight, Rhodes was scheduled to fight Jorge Paez after this fight and he was seen as a fairly big favourite over Dorsey.

The fight itself was a very even brutal back and forth war for 7 rounds, i loved Rhodes's consistent work to the body. And Dorsey doing what he always does come at you like a freight train with his non stop punching. But i feel like the momentum of this fight shifted in the 8th round where Dorsey hurt Rhodes, and from that point on i felt like Dorsey was in control of the fight. The stoppage itself in the 10th round was a very good one and no argument from me.

Overall i love watching Troy Dorsey fight i wish his fight with Kevin Kelley would reappear online, i would love to rewatch and score that fight.

    Mark Johnson vs Enrique Orozco

    1 Johnson
    2 Johnson
    3 Orozco
    4 Orozco
    5 Johnson 10-8 point deduction
    6 Johnson
    7 Johnson
    8 Johnson
    9 Orozco
    10 Orozco
    11 Johnson
    12 Johnson wins by TKO

    106-102 Johnson

I love watching Mark Johnson fight one of the most skillful/entertaining fighters ever, and one of the most underrated little guys.

Johnson came out in the first 2 rounds as the aggressor, and clearly won the first 2 rounds with some superb body punching. From that point on Orozco was the aggressor and Johnson was the boxer, and the fight followed that same pattern the whole away through.

I felt Orozo did some good work to the body himself, when Johnson would stay in the pocket too much, i also thought the commentators were a bit harsh on Orozo, they had it almost a shut out ? i definitely thought Orozco won his fair share of rounds. The stoppage itself i felt was a good one Johnson landed some vicious uppercuts, and whilst Orozco did complain about the stoppage i felt it was justified.

Overall a very fun/entertaining fight and i fight i think you would like @scartissue

Frank Bruno v Jumbo Cummings (British scoring in effect)

    Round 1: Cummings
    Round 2: Cummings
    Round 3: Bruno
    Round 4: Bruno
    Round 5: Bruno
    Round 6: Bruno
Round 7: Bruno drops and stops Cummings

Total through 6 completed rounds: (British scoring) 59-58 Bruno

I've always wanted to see this fight. I remember reading about it in Boxing News and the fuss they raised over Bruno getting caught in the 1st round, which they said exposed him. But Bruno was made of sterner stuff and came back in this fight to take out Cummings in the 7th. I will say this, when he would get tagged, he was like a deer in the headlights the way he would just stop stock still like he did in the 1st round here and how he did that against Bonecrusher Smith. But still, it was a methodical beat down of Jumbo and I'm glad I finally got around to seeing it.

What I always remember about this fight, was Bruno being frozen by a right hand bomb from Cummings at the end of the 1st. And his corner literally having to carry Bruno back to his corner, it's actually maybe the only time in Bruno's career he comeback from being seriously hurt.

He was damn lucky it happened right at the bell. When one has to be escorted back to his corner you know he's out of it. One more shot and history would have been rewritten on Bruno. I think the only other time I saw a shot right at the end of the round where there was no way a fighter could have come back from the brink would have been the 2nd round of Lyle v Shavers.

    Iran Barkley W10 Jorge Amparo

I read back in the day that this was a controversial decision, and wanted to check it out for myself. I agree. Controversial.

Barkley comes in ranked #2 in the world in the vacuum that appeared in the middleweight division following Hagler's retirement and Leonard's "will he, won't he" routine. He's hitting his stride as a professional, and Amparo just seems a standard opponent type.

The fight opens that way too. Amparo has no issue trading with Barkley though he tends to get the worst of it, with Iran's size and power being the deciding factor in most of the opening rounds.

In the sixth, however, Barkley is cut and the texture of the fight changes. Amparo, who proved stout and resolute before, is positively emboldened now. He comes forward relentlessly, and Barkley is clearly worried about the cut, as he spends the last four rounds basically running away. Amparo chases behind a jab and occasional short if powerless right hand. He's suddenly wnning rounds at a frightening clip though.

This is a very good fight, plenty of action and back-and-forth swings in momentum until the last few rounds when Amparo takes control, at least on my card. It's just spoiled with a poor decision. Lou Tabat had an atrocious score of 98-90 for Barkley, which is just terrible I think, but the oddity in this bout was the two "knockdowns" that really weren't. I've never gone by the idea that a judge automatically HAS to score 10-8 if the ref calls a knockdown, which happened twice in this fight. Barkley sent Amparo down, but the ring was soaked with rain throughout, and they were clearly slips, as both were sliding around the ring pretty good. I did give Barkley both those rounds 10-9 in some deference to the ref's call, but couldn't justify 10-8 for either. Didn't seem right. Maybe Tabat took the ref at his word and applied the 10-8 to both rounds. Dunno.

    1. Barkley
    2. Even
    3. Barkley
    4. Amparo
    5. Barkley (10-9, though ref calls a KD for Barkley. Total slip)
    6. Amparo
    7. Amparo
    8. Amparo
    9. Barkley (again, only 10-9 but ref calls another KD that is really a slip)
    10. Amparo (Barkley runs the whole time)

    96-95 Amparo.

Muangchai Kittikasem v Jung Koo Chang (flyweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 MK
    Round 2: 10-10 Even
    Round 3: 10-9 Chang
    Round 4: 10-9 MK
    Round 5: 10-7 Chang (scores 2 knockdowns)
    Round 6: 10-9 MK
    Round 7: 10-9 Chang
    Round 8: 10-9 MK
    Round 9: 10-9 MK
    Round 10: 10-9 MK
    Round 11: 10-9 Chang (scores a knockdown)
Round 12: MK drops Chang twice and the fight is stopped

Total through 11 completed rounds: 104-104 Even (actual scores: 104-102 MK, 104-103 Chang and a 103-103 Even going into the 12th)

I always heard good things on this bout and anything I heard was an understatement. Awesome fight! Loved Kittikasem's jab, combos and the way he worked the body. And Chang, although in his final bout fought with his usual pure heart and leaving nothing on the table. One thing to note, I only gave Chang a 10-9 for the 11th round knockdown. If not for that I would have been giving MK the round. I went along with it but I felt the knockdown had a dubious slant to it. When it was called, I started screaming for Perez' head as I always seem to do when he refs. There was something about it that didn't sit with me. I played it over a couple of times and IMO, MK's left foot had slipped out from under him but he got tagged on the way down. So it may be official, but I wasn't going to give a 10-8 for that. That aside a damn good fight.

@salsanchezfan I scored this one last year this is how i had it, we scored it pretty much the same except you scored 2nd round even.

Just watched Iran Barkley vs Jorge Amparo as i'm a fan of Barkley, and i've never seen Amparo fight so i was curious to see this.

    Iran Barkley v Jorge Amparo

    1 Barkley
    2 Barkley
    3 Barkley
    4 Amparo
    5 Barkley knockdown
    6 Amparo
    7 Amparo
    8 Amparo
9 Barkley knockdown but only 10-9
    10 Amparo

    95-94 Barkley

So this was a fun fight with the 3rd round being far and away the best round of the fight, and a candidate for round of the year as both men just slugged it out for the entire 3 minutes.

I was very impressed with Amparo's toughness i haven't seen many fighters, being able to stand toe to toe and go hook for hook with Barkley.

The knockdowns wern't really that effective or heavy, the 1st one seemed like more a slip. And the 2nd one Amparo got too wild and just walked into a punch and didn't even look fazed. And i agreed with you it was only 10-9 as Amparo controlled the round, and Barkley didn't do much.

It was quite weird to see Barkley in final few rounds trying to stay out of harms way, i don't like to say running but he certainly wasn't looking to engage and was looking to survive.

Just a few pointers i looked at Amparo's record and was surprised to see he ended up 8-15, that record really doesn't do him justice. I see he was having very tough fights while only having few professional fights. Like he fought 15-0 John Jarvis in his pro debut, Mike Tinley in his 6th pro fight, 32-0 James Kinchen in his 7th pro fight, and some of these losses were split decisions or draws. Which is very impressive considering the lack of experience, and also see he went the distance with Nigel Benn also another impressive feat.

Sometimes you get journeyman fighters who just look to survive, and go the distance against name fighters. Now i haven't seen alot of Jorge Amparo, but judging from Iran Barkley fight he certainly didn't seem like that type of opponent, and the 8-15 really does not do him justice. Had he had easier fights early on his career, and got some the close decisions, who knows how his record would of turned out.

    Derrell Coley vs Kip Diggs

    1 Diggs
    2 Coley
    3 Diggs 10-8 Knockdown
    4 Coley
5 Diggs 10-7 Knockdown And a point deduction
6 9-9 Point deduction for Coley
    7 Diggs 10-8 Knockdown
    8 Diggs
    9 Coley
    10 Coley 10-8 Knockdown
11 Coley wins by TKO scores a knockdown right at the start of the 11th round referee steps in

    94-90 Diggs

I finally found this fight @Pepsi Dioxide what a great fight this was one of the best Welterweights of the 90s. Big punches in every round, knockdowns in almost every round, point deductions, a great comeback KO from Coley it had it all.

Just one thing i would like to say is that Coley was on the floor atleast 8 times, and the referee ruled most of them a slip. I think Coley actually could of had close to 6 knockdowns ruled against him not that it mattered in the end.

Also finally you don't get to properly see the finish, because it happened so early in the 11th whilst they were showing the replays. So you have to look at the replay at the end to properly see the finish.

@Jel @salsanchezfan @scartissue You need to watch this fight ASAP.
