Pepsi, I checked out McCall v Damiani today. It was OK, but nobody needs to go out of their way to watch it. The first 2 rounds were tepid, but from there they got into some brief but decent exchanges. But there was a lot of mauling going on. I had the first round even, and the second for Damiani and from there McCall's sharper blows came into play and busted up Damiani's nose. The Italian turned away in the 8th after taking one more on the old schnozzolini. I had it 69-65 for McCall after 7 rounds.

Damiani had a glass proboscis.

 

He had a nose for losing fights

 

For me, at the world class level Francesco never passed the smell test.

 

His fight with Greg Page is out there. I think he won that fight just by a nose-hair.

 

A lot of people poke fun at Damiani, but his win over Tyrell Biggs is nothing to sneeze at.

Too bad he never sniffed a true world title fight.

 

Yea if he got a shot against Holyfield, I would favor Evander but who really nose?

 

He actually did, but pulled out when he injured himself in training (ankle maybe?). Bert Cooper subbed on like a week’s notice.

I’m not saying it would be impossible for Francesco to beat Evander, but he’d really have to honker down and keep his nose to the grindstone in training to have a chance. It’ snot a fight he’d win easily — Holyfield could be a real booger in the ring.
