Yep, Chang gets wobbled a few times, but comes ons trong to beat Ohashi to a standstill. He drops him **** loadsa times.

Chang is past his physical best in this fight but sits down on his shots more. Still awesome.

Was Buddy Baer any good? I thought he was a part of the 'bum of the month' crowd?

I'm to check out the Billy Conn fights as well, thats another fighter I've heard a lot about. Any other fights you'd recommend?

 

He is past it but its an awesome fight. Seen it afew time snow and its one of my favrouite fights ever.

The third round is just mind blowing. Chang drops ohashi 3 times then gets rel badly hurt himself. I'll tell you what though, in that fight Ohashi shows some superb skills and solid counterpunching as well as a big ticker.

 

I don't really see it as 'bum of the month' really. Louis was fighting regularly, and against fighters in the top 20. Someone like Tony Galento, derided for his size and stature, was actually pretty useful and held victories over other decent opposition. He also fought out a crouch well. Buddy Baer was not a patch on Max but big, strong and tough. He could whack a bit too.

His work pre-World title is fairly astonishing, Carnera and Sharkey to name two.

His fight with Conn (the 1st one) is very interesting. Conn is pulling off the imposible until he decides to trade with the always patient Louis. Louis finally gets his meal and devours it completely with just a few bites.

Conn is past it in the 2nd fight, but Louis' final three punches; a right to the ear which has Cnn stumbling, a right uppercut to lift a wilting Conns head up, and the picture-perfectr left hook which finishes it....:yikes

Louis was a beast. I have him at about no,15 on my P4P list. The best all-round puncher in the history of the sport IMO.

yeah a great shot, i must admit though i got the feeling that at times napoles was finding it to easy and dropped to lopez's level i am not putting lopez down more thinking napoles was just so much better than lopez .

oh i forgot i saw monzon and napoles as well.

 

Napoles gives a good showing. His chin is made of steel!

 

In my book Britains greatest fighter (Don't count Fitz as British really) way past prime against Frenchmen Charles Ledoux, but fascinating footage nonetheless. Jim Driscoll, the legendary Featherweight who fought bigger opposition as well, including another one of Britains greatest, Freddie Welsh, the Lightweight World Champion.

That guy Rare Boxing uploads some amazing stuff. Not sure how rare this is, but I'd never seen it before and I know there are quite a few on here that hold Driscoll in high regard. Not him at his best, post WW1 and all that, but fascinating nonetheless.

I'd read about that 1st Conn fight before alright, but i haven't got around to watching it till now. Conn's line after it is one of my favourite boxing quotes, "What's the point of being Irish if you can't be thick"

 

The first fight is a brilliant clash of styles and a great example how cool and composed Louis was. He was patient, and didn't waste much when faced with someone engaging him.

 

Cory vs Taylor.

I feel silly for watching this, but i've seen many comments alluding to Cory outpointing JT and i think i may've scored it for Cory the last time a saw it. This time I don't think that Cory's taps, lack of engaging the bigger man, and boxing in limited spots did nothing to take the title away from the strap holder. Don't know how i had it for Cory the first time, it was an easy fight to score in JT's favor as he effectively controlled the smaller guy for 2.5 mins a round, 1 through 12.

Anyway a debate would have best been served for discussion like 1 week after the this fight, the window of opportunity to analyze is well past and thank God it's collected dust in cyperspace. Don't know what i saw in Cory, getting caught up in someone who has skills and steals rounds should only be benchmarked to Leonard v. Hagler. Discussing a 30 second fighter like Cory trying to pull a Leonard with bicycle boxing is a diception to strap holders getting the benefit for embracing and controlling the center, pocket work, effective aggression.

 

Michael Gomez Vs Alex Arthur - Enough said what a fight.


Michael Gomez Vs Jus.tin Juuko - Gomez looked quality imo in this fight, but Juuko had nothing left.

Micheal Gomez Vs Leva Kirakosyan - Good little fight, Gomez rocked in the 5th I think it was.
