While we're doing "all our yesteryears"....I had my first "proper" date on the night Colin Jones got sliced open by Don Curry. I took a girl to the pictures, got a quick fumble and then tried to find out the result from passers by as we left the cinema!!
the first i remember was john h stracey vs hedgemon lewis ,i remember lewis slupped on the ropes the ref stepped in and in just sort went with his knee's bent i think
****ing hell, the first fight I remember is Calzaghe vs Bika. An alright fight aswell. Also i think Williams vs Harrison II was on the undercard Brilliant bout that. Best fight ever. Remember when Ishy went on a date.
Bradley-Peterson. Great fight, sustained action, competitive despite Bradley's wide points win, and both classy guys. I don't see an awful lot of light welters beating Timothy.
I'm getting ready to watch Berto v Quintana right now. Couldn't find a beer to represent the Haitian theme but just popped my first top. Haven't seen the fight yet or read reports so I'm interested to see if Berto worked out that illegal flick jab he was scoring against Urango with. Little things like that will show me if this kid is dedicated to servicing the oil changes and not just polishing the rims for the showroom.
yoko gushiken vs aniceto vargas, the first four rounds were a dance and in the 4th the ref called the boxers together, now i dont speak japanese but it is a pretty good guess that he said come boys this is a boxing contest so lets start boxing.seriuosly if old harry gibbs had been the ref they would of been told that in the first round, gushiken in control of the fight with out doing much himself is easily ahead by the ninth which is a round that gushiken is more himself and dominates ,vargas rallies a little in the tenth but still does not do enough to take the round, in the 11th vargas is given 2 standing 8 counts and just survives the round.gushiken dominates the rest of the fight with vargas fighting mostly on the ropes and vargas takes another standing 8 count in the 13th ,vargas is down in the opening 15 seconds of the 14th round he beats the counts but the ref stops the fight.
yeah i have not seen him seen really before so got his career set a couple of months ago and am very impressed
He is impressive. When you get the Gavilanset I am sending, just need to copy afew disks, you will love him.
harada vs pone kingpetch (I)... i really loved this fight pone tries to keep distance with his jab but harada is just amazing and for me and always has the upper hand ,pones biggest disadvantage for me seems to be a lack of power.at the end i think of the second round both boxers dont hear the bell and have to be separated ,and straight out of a film inbetween some of the rounds pone's cornermen are combing his hair . pone's brave fight is finally halted by harada in the 11th,i will try to watch the 2nd fight at the weekend
