Lennox had that beast inside him when he wanted to let it out. Damn i miss him.

 

I watched Kessler-Ward again today. All everyone seems to mention when they talk about this fight are the headbutts and foul play, and i think this discredits a fantastic performance from Ward. He was a little bit reckless at times but i dont think they were deliberate head butts, and make no mistake he was handing out a boxing lesson to Kessler head clash or no head clash.

His ring generalship is outstanding, you can see why he's never lost a fight since he was 10 years old or something. He can fight at range with his hand speed and footwork and use angles, but he's also very clever on the inside and knows every trick in the book. He tied Kessler up when he had to and neutralised all of his strengths, Hopkins-esque.

One worrying trait of his i see though is that he lunges in sometimes trying to hold or initiate a clinch, similar to Berto but he's alot better at it than Berto. I can see him walking onto something and if Allen Green knows everything about Ward's style as he claims to, with his power, he could be the man to do it.

Leonard/Kalule:yikes

It's the 1st time i've watched it in years, Leonard was a very fortunate man in this fight & he was starting to panic as he was starting to unravel more than a bit at the higher weight after 5 rounds. Soft stoppage IMO as Kalule was really starting to whack Leonard about with his counters & the one sure thing that came out of this fight & that is the fact that Leonard was a Welterweight & no way anywhere near as fast or effective at Lt/Middle.

He must have known during & after this fight that to even get into the ring with a prime Hagler who'd have seen him get destroyed before 10 rounds were up. It tells you something about how this fight was going when the crowd turned on Leonard & roared Kalule on after the 5th

 

I consider that a good win for Leonard, Ayub Kalule was underrated. One of those guys who only lost to the best and beat anyone on a extremely good night. The Kalule that Herol Graham beat was done, but against Leonard he was very good at that point in his career. Btw check out his fight with Sumbu Kalambay another guy who falls into a similar caterory, but was a better technical fighter and gave Mike McCallum a lot of problems.

just watched mayweather mosley aswell. 1 thing that got me was mosley showing floyd way to much respect with the touching gloves aswell. at the start of the 8th floyd just pushed shane's hand back with his left hand. was good to see floyd so hurt in the 2nd round, just a shame shane cudnt of just stepped off a sec and picked his shots after he was hurt. floyd got to close and to him and covered up

 

Yeah, Moselys attitude in that fight was weird.

 

That's just Shane being Shane, he does that in all of his fights.

 

John Murray Vs Lee Meager

Murray's best performace imo, pretty relentless in this fight, walks through everything Meager has.

Martin Gethin Vs Nadeem Siddique

One of the best undercard fights from recent years.

 

sound. to be far hadnt seen alot of shanes fights in full, see quite alot of highlights tho. cant remember him doing it much in the mayorga or margarito fights tho:think. maybe its just my memory. imo i dont think he shud of been so respectful:hey:good

 

Steve Cunningham vs Troy Ross

 

Julian Jackson vs Thomas Tate - First couple of rounds were quiet with Tate on the back foot, staying out of range of Jackson's well known power. But after that it really developed into an exciting scrap. Really enjoyed it.

James Toney vs Mike McCallum - Good technical fight. Bad decision.

Julian Jackson vs Geral McClellan - Great battle, if a little short, with an explosive finish. TBH I'm amazed Jackson got up off the first knockdown.
