Does anybody remember Edner Cherry? well i'm about to watch one of his fights (you won't believe how high i was on the Cherry bomb back in the day)

It's against Johnson on the now defunt WNF. By the way if anyone responds to this post in the next 20 minutes, then I know you have the same degenerative sickness that I do. Edner Cherry on a 3 year old Wednesday Night Fights recording...damn, life doesn't get much better than this, lol.

Cherry Bomb's stock actually started to rise again after this from the NASDAQ back to the NYSE. Vicious ko of Johnston in the 10th...almost put him to sleep literally. Don't know where Cherry learned to sit on his punches and use the jab as a blinder, but he was back in the mix at light welter. There was me back on the bandwaggon and thinking finally my little crush on the Cherry bomb is justified, B+ fighter that is starting to move to A- status with pretty damn good footwork as well.

    Oh Cherry, Cherry, Cherry. LOL!

I honestly dont see how Castillo can be scored to be winning the first Mayweather fight. Sure it is very close but the clean work is coming from Floyd.

To be fair I prefer quality over quantity. I think I had it 116-112 myself. I just really dont see Castillo doing enough quality work to take the close rounds, most of it came from floyd IMO.

Dont know what to make of the injuries, I dont ead into them too much.

Also great anaylisis on how to beat Floyd, exactly as I see it.

If you go on sweetscience.com and look for Springs Toledo's colum he has some excellant article/stylistic break downs of Mayweather and Pacquiao.

I'm inclined to think Pacquiao has to be accurate fast and awkward to win, just constantly changing the angle and read******g the field of play with different ranges, angles and pace. Although I reckon Maywetaher is skilled enough to adjust to these changes and win.

No-one can implement that strategy on Floyd but there is more than one way to skin a rabbit

I see what you're saying, Floyd landed the cleaner blows but Castillo's work, although not entirely clean, was enough to pick up rounds. When his shots weren't landing clean they were still landing solidly enough to cause problems for Floyd. Castillo's not so clean but more aggressive work was more effective than Floyd's clean, sparse work IMO. It seemed to me that Castillo was slightly more comfortable and had better control of the fight.

To be fair I think Floyd was injured going in to the fight and that's why he switched to southpaw regularly to get some distance with his jab.

It wasn't a robbery as some suggest.

Been on holiday the last week so had to catch up on all the boxing I missed. Well the fights that interested me anyway.

Dmitry Pirog vs Daniel Jacobs - Great KO. Great punch right on the button. Pirog looked the goods and I feel vindicated somewhat in picking him for my Stars of the Future thing. Most on this site, both on here and the general seemed to be picking Jacobs easily. Either way I'm glad that two excellent middleweights have finally come into the spotlight. I'm sure Jacobs will come back and that Pirog will go on to bigger things. Next up Gennady Golovkin should step up to the top of the division. Finally it seems like the Middleweight division may be picking up a bit.

Juan Manuel Marquez vs Juan Diaz II - I expected nothing less from my man Dinamita. He boxed beautifully and looked much sharper at lightweight; better hand speed, reflexes etc. Of course that may just have been because his last fight was against PBF but still. The fight didn't live up to the lofty expectations of the first fight, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the fight.

As for Juan Diaz, he was valiant in defeat, but I thought he fought the wrong fight. He tried to outbox one of the best boxers of this generation. I can understand fully why he did it though considering in the first fight he fought like his usual self and was KOed, and I applaud him for trying hard to change in order to win. He always comes to fight and never gives up, despite a rough couple of years. His competition recently has been excellent and despite setbacks he has had no tune ups. I could name a few fighters who could take a leaf out of his book.

Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik - Robbery. Plain and simple. I had it 117-111 for Kotelnik personally. Kotelnik boxed very well and should of got the decision. Alexander was all style and no substance. He's got fast hands and looked a bit mean, but that don't win you fights. He reminded me of one of those bad guys in shite martial arts films that punch the air and maybe do a flying kick to intimdate someone then get KTFO with one punch. Harold Lederman is a senile old ******* and his scorecard was a shambles.

After that fight I think Kotelnik should be mentioned at the top of the division along with Bradley, Khan, Alexander and Maidana. It also convinces me even more that Bradley will be the king of the division when/if these guys finally fight each other.

    Kalambay vs McCallum 1

I had it 118-111 for Kalambay. Good fight. McCallum got tired by the 9th and the loss was inevitable from there. Impressed with Kalambay's speed and movement though

Alexander vs Kotelnik- A robbery in my opinion which exposed Alexander and leads to into thinking that Bradley and Khan would have an easy nights work, also Ledermans card was ridiculous.
