Adamek vs. Grant (I kept falling asleep on fightnight)

In a fight to showcase Adamek as not just a blown up light heavy/cruiser but a monstrous, legit heavyweight contender who could deal with 'giants' it almost backfired. Grant didn't read the scrip and i thought put up a decent effort (let's not forget that Grant is approaching bum status and wasn't much to right home about in his prime) although he lost wide on the cards, he had Adamek backpeddling and concerned a few times and more importantly exposed the Pole on this adventurous, heavyweight money making scheme as a powder puff puncher north of 200lbs. I was impressed with Tomas against the pilsbury dough boy...i didn't know he could set traps and box backwards like he did against that tacco's and tecate loving Mr Nipples, but against Grant he flattered to deceive.

Grant could've perhaps done some real damage if he let his hands go more. But he played the Gentle Giant as he's done throughout most of his career. Adamek looked ok but it did nothing to convince me that he has a shot with either Brother. He'd put in a spirited effort at least and maybe make it exciting. Him and Haye would be fireworks but I doubt Haye grows balls any time soon as it seems he loves seeing his picture on that milk carton.

Hopkins vs. Winky

I love this fight (probabily because i had a great time in sin city when i travelled to see it) a masterclass by Hopkins on throwing short 6 inch punches and disrupting the peek-a-boo.

Winky was always a strange guy, not fighting in long spells, making poor decisions like not taking the Jermaine Taylor rematch and his fixation on big money, catchweight fights was tearing down even his most diehard fans. Btw does anyone have a clue as to what's going on with Wink now? Is he still chasing the De La Hoya rainbow?

Someone said he suffered from us living in the De La Hoya age and they couldn't be more "wright" I mean right, LOL! It is a crying shame that one fight at a stupid catchweight at 170 and Wink disappeared like Bolivia's national product in front of Lindsey Lohan's nasal cavity! I will have to idolize a new age of peek-a-boo like Abraham since my guy Winky Wright is fork and knife DONE!

Damn, I know he only stayed there for two or three years and simply couldn't make weight because the man loved his Burger King, but damn he was the man at 175 much like Spinks was. It's a shame that Michael couldn't have stayed at light heavyweight for 10 years because we would have probably seen a late 90's clash with RJJ! I would've gone with Moorer on size and that left hand but shite, that would have been the decade fight!

Winky Wright pressured Hopkins all night...!! all night..!!

And he was out of shape and looking like a jelly bean aswell.

 

C'mon PK, Hopkins won that fight clearly and the masterclass was in the taking away of the blinder 1 jab and those short 6 inch inside punches which ate Winky up.

Bernard relies on tricks that's different from athleticism for example he punches you were the judge can't see or deduct a point like on your hips he also throws right crosses then crashes into you and then dig into your ribs. You can't learn this stuff its instilled in you.

De La Hoya vs John-John Molina...

Two things that I forgot...

1) How good a fight this was. Molina wasn't scared by the then unbeaten and big punching De La Hoya and that allowed a great fight to develop. For the first time in his career, De La Hoya had to dig deep and he probably became a man that night.

2) How **** Harold Lederman's scoring could be. I had De La Hoya win by 3 rounds and the judges, if you recall, all had him between 3 and 6 yet, somehow, Lederman had Molina win by 3!
