Ortiz vs Maidana, which I hadn't seen for a few months. Great fight but I like Khan's chances to not only beat, but possibly stop Maidana. If it wasn't for Khan's shaky chin he'd be certain to win.

 

You've got to admire Maidana's resilience and mental strength in that fight, to comeback from those heavy knockdowns and take the heart of Ortiz was extremely impressive. Ortiz is probabily the biggest puncher at the weight aswell and is physically very strong. He'll have to beat Khan with his attitude and urgency and try and get him circling into his powershots.

Watch Maidana's right hand, it's his best punch along with the left hook to the body. That right hand is very impressive, he sets it up well and throws it short with quick release. Amir will have to neutralize that backhand and not get caught with it even on his guard because even if Khan blocks it, it might still get through. It also might catch Amir on the temple or the back of the head, so he must not bend over to try and avoid it.

Khan's jab is so important here, he has a potential ATG jab IMO and he must utilise it to the fullest in this fight. It reminds me of Ike Quartey or Virgil Hill's jabs, the accuracy of it is brillient. There was a round in the Malignaggi fight where he never missed with it...Amir has to establish that jab and use it when going out aswell.

Pacquiao vs Morales trilogy

I scored the first fight a draw.

I can't remember exactly what my card was I think it was something like 115-114 Morales.

I think I had it level after 10 and gave Morales the 11th & the 12th well **** me!!.

think the official scorecards were 115-113 all round :think which were a tad generous IIRC

 

It was a very close fight. There were many rounds that could have gone either way. In my opinion, Morales landed punches that looked better than they were due to Pacquiao leaving himself open too often after throwing and Morales managing to knock him off balance. Pacquiao landed some really nice shots that the HBO commentary team did not talk about. They seemed to be obsessed with the already legendary Mexican's ability to land good shots.

Anyway I have no problem with any scorecard that has Morales winning by up to 3 points. And I'm not sure I would score the fight the same way if I watched it again any way.

 

I have the card sticking around somewhere. I am only going by memory, but I certainly had Morales winning the 1st fight
