Naz vs Steve robinson.

 

Kev Hammond vs Kurt Bromberg

After all the things I had heard about this fight, it certainly lived up to expectations. Just non-stop action from the start to the finish. Bromberg with the work rate, Hammond with the bigger, more eye catching shots. Amazingly, the lights were the only thing that went down during this fight! I had it 97-95 for Hammond, but the rounds were so close that it could have went to either. Will watch it again (possibly tonight) and I'll probably get a different scorecard to the one I just had.

 

Herol Graham v Jose Seys - Good, fun little fight. Graham to on the Mullet Man after he shocked Errol Christie in a round. Bit of a wild performance from Graham who seemed to have no regard for what Seys could offer and and got caught with a good few shots before stopping him in the 6th.

Gary Mason v James Tillis - Tillis was shot but he did better than I expected he would. Mason had trouble finding him in the first couple rounds but he got into his rhythm land landing his heavy shots. Stopapge was a built debatable

Gary Mason v Hughroy Currie - Masons British Title winning effort. Dominated his overmatched opponent with ease. Good KO, had him on jelly legs with a straight right before a winging right flattened him.

Koki Kameda v Alexander Munoz - Nice display of counter-punching from Kameda as he tamed his lesser-skilled opponent. Came on strong late in the fight dropping Munoz and having him in big trouble. I wouldn't be confident with Kamedas chances against any of the top 118 lads though, hopefully the WBA will make a fight between their 2 WBA champions :roll:

The Leija's were characters. They had a dispute over a woman once, so Louie called cousin Jesse James out after being on one of his undercards, even though he couldn't carry his jockstraps. What women do to us, eh?

 

Ali-Frazier I - had it 10-5 (145-139) for Smokin' Joe

 

Henry Cooper v Joe Bugner - Don't know why I neglected to bother scoring this one atsch...did look like poor Henry got shafted, put on a great display in the later rounds. Cooper looked like a 50 year old man after the fight had finished yet he was the fresher man despite the massive age difference, shame he didn't get a rematch.

Joe Frazier v Joe Bugner - A great effort from Bugner, maybe his best? Came out with aggression in the first couple rounds landing some real eye-pleasing combinations. Let Fraziers pressure get to him a bit in the middle rounds and fell behind on the scorecards. Massive left hook on Bugners chin in the 10th sent him crashing down but he showed massive heart to come through and even rock Frazier later in the same round. Cracking fight.

Alexis Arguello v Rey Tam - Pretty good fight, Tam was a game Filipino southpaw and he gave Arguello a few problems. Took some big shots and gave as good as he got up until the 5th when Arguello hurt him and instantly jumped on him landing at will. Tam looked to regain his senses but just gave up.

Just watched the Kelly-Pavlik Sergi Martinez fight. Good fight. I ****in love the way Martinez fights, had him winning by 3 rounds.

 

All of Guillermo Rigondeaux's professional fights barring the Cordoba one. When you watch his early fights he looks almost flawless. His shot selection and counter-punching is impeccable and his body punching is absolutely devastating. What's probably most impressive about him is his calmness in the ring, he's so relaxed that he controls the fight that way. You see some of the guys starting pretty aggressively but then slowing down really quickly despite not really being hit with anything, he manages to make them stop and think by being so level-headed.

 

James Toney vs. Prince Charles Williams.

I swear Toney's biggest gift was also his curse. The guy was so naturally talented, I've never seen someone so blase about conditioning be such a good late rounds fighter. He had an inane ability to concentrate under fatigue and get to his man late in fights, as Prince Charles found out here.

 

James Toney vs. Iran Barkley.

I never tire of watching this. This is the best Toney ever IMO, he gave a clinic on fighting in the pocket. It's no coincidence that most naturally talented fighters have a mental problem. What happened to Toney also inflicted Duran and Benitez. Damn you gluttony, LOL!
