I watched that one recently. Very good fight. Cowdell was outmatched in almost every department and yet I had him winning for most of it, Sanchez just could not handle Cowdell's herky jerky feinting masterclass, probably never seen anyhing quite like it. But as with the Nelson fight Salvador figured it out in the end and got the job done. I cannot think of another fighter as young as Sanchez who was capable of turning a fight around with such intelligence.

    Sanchez v Nelson 2
    Sanchez v Pedrosa
    Sanchez v McGuigan........what a fecking shame.

I have watched Ali Vs Ron Lyle... possibly the complete opposite of lyle's war with Foreman.. Ali playing the rope a dope and Lyle not wading in but holding back. Ali did nothing for the first 4 rounds before dancing round and jabbing Lyle in 5 & 6, resting in 7 and then pouring it on in 8 with some nice combo's but could'nt shift Lyle.. a great Ali straight right in 10 send Lyle stumbling back to the ropes and he followed up by punching Lyle around the ring before the ref jumped in.. possibly an early stoppage?

I then checked out prime tyson in action against Holmes and Spinks...great head movement and speed from Tyson ... especially as I was comparing to old tyson vs lewis which I watched yesterday..he was shocking in that fight.

Vernon Forrest vs Ricardo Mayorga 2

I had it 115-1113 Mayorga. Ricardo definetely won this fight IMO, he easily won rounds 2-6, aswell as rounds 10 & 11. I don't see how anyone could give this fight to Forrest. The only thing controversial about the decision was the fact that one judge had it a draw. This was a clear win for Ricardo Mayorga.

I have never seen a fighter fall to the floor as many times as Forrest did in this fight. 8 times. He slipped to the floor 8 times. Did he have butter on his shoes or something? I also did not like the way he held onto Mayoga's legs and pulled them upwards, that was dirty and unnecessary. It wasn't as bad as his running like a chicked at the end of the later rounds though, that was cringeworthy.

Watching a prime El Matador fight really makes me think that he would stop Miguel Cotto if they fought prime for prime. His chin was outstanding, he had excellent power, he was fast, he jumped all over his opponents, attacked them from every angle, teed off with huge right hand shots to the temple. I very much doubt that Cotto could survive a Ricardo Mayorga onslaught, because there is no way he is knocking Mayorga out.

Tim Witherspoon KO5 Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

Much like vs Bowe, Gonzalez was at least competative in the first couple rounds (he arguably won both vs Witherspoon), then his complete lack of conditioning and open stance to a looping right got him into deep waters. Terrible Tim kept banging in that right and blasted him out.

James Scott vs Eddie Mustafa Muhammed.

Pretty crazy that Scott fought out of prison. He got released in 2005 but had over 10 fights at Rahway State Prison, defeating some very good fighters and being ranked #1.

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr vs Zsolt Bedak

This was actually quite an entertaining fight, certainly better than the first time I remember seeing it. Bedak started off well, he isn't your typical ''European'' fighter, he does protect himself quite well, but not in the typical shelled up way, and he has quick hands. WV2 had to take his time early on, he couldn't land his patented body shots because of Bedak's defence, so he used his strong jab(powered by his powerful legs) to make Zsolt raise his hands more in order to slot his body blows in after about four rounds. After Bedak realised he couldn't bomb Vazquez out he seemed to lose hope, he knew he wasn't able to box with him and was demoralized because of it, and then broken down efficiently. The damage piled up as the rounds went by and WV2 took him out very impressively in the tenth with some beautiful right hands.

I dont think Vazquez gets the credit he warrants. He only took up boxing at the age of 23 and had no amateur experience, he doesn't get by on his name and is willing to take on fighters that offer a lot of danger to him. He doesn't have a particularly flashy style or blazing handspeed(it's decent) or devastating power(but it is quite good), but he's rapidly improving into one of the best fighters in a deep division already, and I think he has the potential to be the best.

Oyewale Omotoso vs Emmanuel Augustus - pretty close fight up until the 6th, then Omotoso dominated, flooring Augustus in the 6th and twice in the 9th to win by stoppage. This fight was 18 or so months ago and it's infuriating that Omotoso isn't being stepped up. His next opponent is 'Sweet Pee' Kotey for example :patsch

However, keep your eye on him - a very exciting prospect.
