The 'what fights did you watch today?' thread

That's the fight that really shows how much Valeros power was overrated.

 

DeMarco did take some hard shots, Valero certainly made him quit.

 

Roberto Duran VS Esteban De Jesus I

Duran down in the first 30 seconds from a nice counter left hook, and was rocked again in the 4th but didnt deter him as he continues he come forward and landed some decent shots of his own but wasnt enough for the judges (1 was Harold Ledernman:yep)

Meldrick Taylor vs Aaron Davis

Taylor's first title fight since the Chavez loss. A really good scrap, containing the kind of fast paced action which has every fan on the edge of their seats. I don't see how anyone could find Meldrick Taylor boring. Even in this fight, after the hellacious beating he took from Chavez, he comes forward, throws hard, fast, flashy combinations, never backs off (until the last round). A really exciting fighter to watch. I can honestly say there is no other fighter I would prefer to observe. It's a huge shame, the manner in which he fell off was so tragic.

I scored it 115-113 Taylor. That's really the closest I see this fight. Davis came on well and his jab was accurate enough to give a tiring Taylor some issues, but he allowed Taylor to beat him in the early rounds with fast, flashy combos that managed to find there target regularly. Close but clear for Meldrick.

Huck-Lebedev was the biggest robbery of that weekend, worse than Hopkins-Pascal.

Hamed-Kelly. Great fight.

 

hamed-kelly was a great fight i must admit though before the fight started i was laughing, kelly looked so cheesed off with the amount of time hamed was taking getting to the ring

 

The clip I watched I had to skip to something like 14 minutes in just to get to the fight!!

Salvador Sanchez Vs Jorge Garcia

This was a pretty fun fight to watch with back and forth action although Sanchez was getting the best of most of the exchanges but 'Rocky' Garcia was always willing to fire back. Bit like Matty Hatton at the weekend:yep but on a different level.

Salvador Sanchez Vs Azumah Nelson

Nelson in only his 14th fight may have been a little green coming into battle but from the opening 2 rounds i think Sanchez knew he had a fight on his hands as Nelson tries to land Combinations and appears strong at the weight. A lovely left hook at the start of the 7th staggers nelson back, and returns fire only to be caught with another left hook and sent to the canvas. Nelson's heart certainly couldn't be questioned as he has Sanchez hurt and in a tad bit of trouble in the later rounds. Sanchez's left hook was a thing of beauty in this fight, specially as he finished off a very beaten Nelson. That last round was Fantastic and it was a great, great fight. Nelsons seems my type of fighter, even when he's hurt he doesn't hold, instead choosing to fire back. great stuff.

Shame this was Sanchez's last fight, specially with him being only 23. Just makes you think how good he would of been.......Who knows
