I love that fight. Cooper could be an absolute beast on his best night, he was just so inconsistent and had a lot of problems outside the ring with drugs and personal demons that got the better of him. Against Holyfield though he came with the right head on. He actually went to rehab (that's not what they called it then) before he went 'life and death' with Mercer, breaking Merciless Ray's jaw in the process. Evander got the best mentally prepered Cooper and Holyfield seemed uncharacteriscally demotivated.

If you remember the Tyson fight had just fallen through and if i remember correctly Cooper was a replacement (can't recall for who). So it was understandable that Evander was somewhat uninspired for this. You can actually detect it moments before the fight starts.

The worst thing Cooper did was hurting Holyfield with that right hand(probabily the first time Evander was badly stunned). What followed was classic Holyfield, that inherent courage and fortitude which became his trademark and went on to stop Cooper. Holyfield actually tore his glove, he hit Cooper with that many powershots.

Great gallantry and resolve from both men. Brillient fight!

Anyone have a look at stevie Johnston Lately? By **** that man could fight:deal

Just had a look at his second fight with jose Luis Castillo, he gave castillo all he could habdle in an excellent fight and he was fairly unlucky not to get the nod.

Very good technical fighter was stevie, good offense, defense, all round boxing skills, plenty of heart and a good chin. I will have to check out more of him. Hes one of the little talked about lightweights of the 90's/2000's.

Watched Duran v Barkley before I went out earlier.

Ordered James Toney career set, Morales - Barrera trilogy and Ross - McLarnin trilogy just there.

Think I'll watch a Ruben Olivares fight and a Ricardo Lopez fight before switching over to Boxnation.

This guy doesn't get much mention on here, but he has always been reliable when I've ordered from him:

    http://boxingfirst.yolasite.com/

I think he's doing a deal right now where if you purchase 3+ career sets, then you only pay £1 per disc. I haven't actually bought any career sets from him - I just purchase full shows - but I'm sure they're fine, and he is one of the best for UK fighters :good

    Betulio Gonzalez vs Guty Espadas

Brutal, epic war in which both warriors traded power shot for power shot in a contest of two halves. Espadas, using his greater hand speed, was able to get off with flurries of eye catching punches in the early rounds, sweeping the first 4 on my card. Gonzalez, eager to make the fight at close quarters, got his wish in the fifth as both men seemed magnatised to each other as they traded bombs on the inside. Gonzalez took the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth on my card before Espadas found some room for his combinations to take the nineth and tenth. Gonzalez roared back in round 11 as the bout again found itself being fought out in ring centre. He out fought Espadas in rounds 12, 13 and 14 before a barnstorming last round saw Gonzalez badly hurt and in trouble on several occasions, only his fighting heart seeing him cross the finish line. Both men raised their hands in victory at the end of a memorable 15 round war, epic stuff.

I scored it 143-142 in favour of Gonzalez, but some of the rounds were hard to score taking place at close quarters. Thanks to Flea for pointing me in the direction of this classic!!:good

He was all set to fight Tyson (for the 2nd time) but Mike was indicted for ****.

Holy looked around for opponents, he was due to fight an Italian HW called Damiano but when that fell through he ended up fighting Cooper.

That fight was in Atlanta as well! Great performance by Burt but Holy is just :bowdown

    I love that fight :bbb

Shoji Oguma vs Antonio Avelar WBC flyweight title.

Fantastic finish to this fight, ferocious outburst of punching by the two warriors saw Avelar drop the champion heavily in the seventh round. He tried to regain his feet before the count reached 10 but his legs simply would not hold him upright. Great come from behind knockout

Oguma stupidly slugged it out with one of the hardest punchers in the divisions history. Not a great idea to give the Mexican chances like that, but Oguma was class nonetheless, and had done a lot of good work in a great era for the weight, battering Chan-Hee Park for instance, who had looked incredible in dismantling Miguel Canto.
