Manny Pacquiao vs Jorge Eliecer Julio

This was Pacquiao's second defence of his 122lbs title that he won from Ledwaba(which I plan on watching later), and not a fight you can take much from, considering how early he ended things. It was obvious from the get-go that the Columbian couldn't really handle Manny's power at all, even shots taken on the gloves noticeably bothered him. If nothing else it shows Pacquiao's a good listener, he was winging his lead left a lot in the first when he knew he could hurt his man, which Roach told him to cease doing, to double his jab before letting go with the left. Sure enough, first 15 seconds Julio's down courtesy of a left hand off the double jab. Smelling blood, Pac followed up, dropped him again with the same salvo before the referee stopped him on his feet.

I was interested in looking into Julio a bit, as I knew very little of him. This fight didn't help my cause, as I still know very little.:yep He has some decent wins though, and he's only lost to top quality guys, Johnny Tapia and Junior Jones(perhaps SportsLeader can help me out) before Pacquiao, where apparently he was competitve. Seemed like a composed boxer despite the distress he was consistently under here, so I can only imagine he looked better in his other fights.

You should watch Julio/Jones my brother. That's a interesting fight, one of my personal favourites actually, though it's not particularly exciting (though not boring either, couple of knockdowns and some good drama).

I was interested in Julio after I saw the Jones fight. His bout with Eddie Cook recently became available for download, and that was a decent watch. Might just be Julio's best win.

    15. Frazier ( 10-8 )

145-139 Frazier. Should've had a knockdown in the 11th as well.

Just watching the Thrilla in Manilla documentary now cuz I'd never seen that before. It's brilliantly done.

    Jose Medal vs Fighting Harada

Harada showed amazing courage to get up from multiple knock downs at the hands of the hard punching Medal. Once he had Harada going he didnt let him off the hook, punishing him with some brutal combinations.

Is the Poison fight on YT? I'm on an iPod right now so I can't really check. Was it as relatively competitive as I've read? From the little research I've done on it, it seems he took about 4 rounds off of Jones, would that be an accurate summation of how the rounds were distributed? And you KNOW that "boring" fights aren't something to dissuade me, I have watched about 15 Mijares fights 10 times each after all.:yep

I was looking up some stuff on him and he's got some alright names on his record, (seemingly)competitive with Jones, Tapia and Vargas(possibly Izzy Vazquez too, though I can't did anything on it) and wins over good-to-decent opposition in Cuathasomething Gomez(who cane ever so close to beating Paulie Ayala IIRC), Cook and Jimenez(the fasted KO guy). Nothing special, but judgin from the demolition he received he appears to have the kind of style I tend to like. An Acosta-like right hook to the body.

The Jones/Julio fight isn't on YouTube, but I can hit you up with a link (one that works this time, no strings attached :yep). It's a decent fight. One of the more enjoyable and dramatic Junior Jones bouts I must say. I suspect you'd enjoy it. Yeah, Julio had a very good spell in the fight starting from when he KD'd Jones, he proceeded to take control of the fight throughout the mid rounds before Jones clawed it back and finished very strongly. He probably did win about 4 rounds, Julio. I think I made a post about it in this very thread just after I'd watched it.

I'm on my phone myself, but if you want the link bruv I can get it to ya tomorrow.

Cook beat the extremely dangerous Contreras. I have that fight but haven't watched it yet, will have to get round to that actually.

Is it really no strings attached? Apparently last time it was rather simple to work out, but I couldn't even get past the first sentence of your PM ffs.:yep In the end I had to do a pot-luck google search and it ended up working out for me in the end. But yeah, if it's feasible for my feeble mind to understand then I would be appreciative.:good

In other news, I'm going crazy here that I can't find Mthalane-Sarritzu or Rungvisai-Nashiro anywhere. Apparently Mthalane was a lightweight the day of the fight. :patsch I expect the latter to surface at some point in the near future, not holding my breath on the former however.

Perfect example of how one punch can change everything. Harada was giving it to him good prior to getting caught.

I don't think there's any strings attached this time :yep.

Last time was a one off though, I swear.

The Mthalane fight was available, but got taken down recently unfortunately. I really want to see the recent Aoh fight, but that doesn't seem to have surfaced either.

You shouldn't have much to worry about regarding Ao, just like I won't have to fret much about Rungvisai. Both were televised in their respective nations and generally Thai and Japanese broadcasts are uploaded within the the month, if not much sooner(though generally reserved for the 'big' names like Pong).

Couldn't believe that I missed Mthalane, tuned into Italian TV as the show was finishing.

Greg Page v Alfredo Evangelista - easy to see back then what the fuss once was with Greg.
