I really like this card tonight.

 

Great Breakdown! I felt like I was watching the fight again.

I had to put that sentence in bold. I hate to point out typos in an excellent post, but I found that one amusing.

Ahhh, I didn't see the fight but heard it was a robbery many times. Not sure if it could've been a competitive fight as I didn't see it so I guess I'll take your words for it lol.

 

Rd 1
Love the way Aldo mixes up his attacks. So versatile. He would get a hook or uppercut to the gut then attack Hominick’s right leg. Forget what I said about him being reckless the word is explosive but somehow he manages to time his assaults patiently. Out struck him standing and dominated on the ground with elbows and punches from the top. Aldo clearly won.

Rd 2
Hominick started much better and was able to get solid left hooks in and stuff a couple TD attempts. Got the jab and straight going and it took Aldo quite some time to figure out how to get Hominick on the ground with a takedown and strike him in general. Aldo did well from 2 mins and on but Hominick got his shots in before being taken down again. Hominick rd as he controlled most of it.

Rd 3
Hominick again outkickboxed him again but Aldo did better in the stand up than previously and hit him with harder shots imo. Aldo looks more fatigue than he did in these rds opposed to rd 1 so the weight might have affected him. Hominicks’ timing is a problem for him throughout but after he got rock Aldo pounced on him and changed the momentum. Aldo rd but before he rocked Hominick with the right hand it was back and forth.

Rd 4
Momentum still in Aldo’s favor. Clipped him with his patent leg strike to the left leg and rocked him with a right cross I assume? Just continued to outstrike him but got warned for knees to the groin area which look unintentional to me. Left hook to the body and righ leg kick to the left leg dominated this rd along with superb head movement from Aldo. Won the rd very convincingly.

Rd 5
Props to Hominick for fighting on that bump on his head looked grotesque and those leg kicks would’ve had me crying like a *****. He went out like a warrior bloody face and all and gave it what he could once he finally took Aldo down. Thought Hominick dominated the rd with his GnP.

Aldo 3-2
He looks very vulnerable for an elite champion imho but he gives great fights and the experience will only help him. Could be a stamina issue but despite that he’s fun to watch and one of the best strikers now. Will see his nxt fight with Koch. In the 4th they said his fav fighters wer Chuck and Rizzo so that makes me wanna do Rizzo research to see if he got part of his style from him. I know Chuck and seen Chuck’s exciting fights so anyone have Pedro Rizzo suggestions?

 

Watched Michael McDonald vs. Chris Cariaso. Gotta say, I think Cariaso won it at least 29-28. Very close fight, but I thought that Cariaso was pretty much doing better work the whole time.

After the way that Cariaso handled Josh Ferguson, I think he will be a real force at 125. He was too small at 135, and he still looked pretty damn good.

 

Watched the Belfort-Ortiz "Super Saturday" main event and found it interesting while making my rd summaries.

Rd 1- I guess you could give it to either fighter. Great grappling vs striking rd. Ortiz held much more dominate positions but Belfort was still firing back off the cage with knees and stunned him with his blistering handspeed a time or two. Maybe not enough to give him the rd so I go with Ortiz though oddly I preferred how Belfort fought more despite that. Gotta leave bias to the side when judging.

Ortiz rd 10-9 scoring I presume? Okay, Ortiz 10-9

Rd 2- Belfort reversing Ortiz' grappling attempts and does a nice sprawl. Rains down elbows and fists while Ortiz looks for a more comfortable spot. Gets and armbar attempt but Belfort breaks out fast to go on to get back to his punches from the top position. Another submission(guillotine) fails for Ortiz as he is still at the bad end of momentum. Both men look tired after being told to stand up. Ortiz ends the rd on top but clearly lost that rd

Belfort 10-9


Rd 3 - Ortiz starts the rd with a kick that look good but not sure if it landed. Belfort looks to counter a takedown attempt by Ortiz but gets taken down while Ortiz maintains a dominate position from the top. Hated when wrestlers only wanted to take you down in UFC 2009 game BTW. Ortiz establishing his patented GnP while Belfort looks like he can't find a way out. Ortiz shifts him towards the cage to limit the chance of him escaping while Belfort of course tries to do the opposite. They're told to stand up and Ortiz goes for a double leg takedown but only succeeds in pressing him against the cage. Soon he uses the momentum to "bounce off" the cage to turn belfor around and drop him facing the center of the octagon. He rains down elbows and punches to finish the rd.

Ortiz 10-9



Winner: Ortiz 29-28

Close fight it depends on if you like dominate grappling or damaging punches in the 1st rd. Good fight. Soon I hope to break down a Pride fight within the end of this year but those will be really short summaries if I chose to do so.
