Watching UFC 62 and nothing much to report except for this classic from Goldberg during Forrest v Bonnar 2

''He(Bonnar) is trying to reach for the stars because Forrest has found the stars because he's as popular a fighter as we have in the UFC today''

    Answers on a postcard please...

Did you notice his ******ed comment after Glover Teixeira's arm-triangle victory last event?

    "Arm in? Doesn't matter!"

:rofl Cant say I did fella, but I was watching it during a mini house party and of course drink was involved

But Im watching the pre-fight malarky for Mur v christenson, lol I am actually watching 61 not 62, and he's doing his beat to hype Murs skills by referencing Frank tapping Tank and Williams, and his striking due to kodding Simms

I actually think that Goldy's commentary from about UFC 50 to about 100 is trolling genius...shame he doesnt have as many epic brain farts anymore

    Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle

What perfect fight to cap off Lytle's career. Both guys ate some huge shots, and there were no breaks in the action from the first bell. Hardy dives in for a last minute takedown in an attempt to secure the round, and Lytle quickly snatches a tight guillotine and forces Dan to tap. Chris was always good for a balls to the wall scrap, and this is amongst his best.

    Randy Couture vs Vitor Belfort

Vitor with a good posture to defend Coutures TD.....
Vitor was impressively strong here but he was being stupid thinking he would TD Couture with a single leg like he did.....
Explosive, Vitor missed many punches and Couture was able to clinch and control Vitor in the middle of the cage.
Then Randy made Vitor miss his punch with great head movement and got a beautiful take down !
Couture on top, trying to do his gnp game......
Some great knees by Randy when Vitor got up.....both landed good uppercuts in the clinch, but Randy landed much more and Vitor was stunned by it !
Then RAndy finished the job with knees....Vitor was finished already and Couture did a murderous gnp !!

Big win by Couture this one....

Underrated win due to Vitor being so inconsistent. Actually Randy beat a Vitor who came to fight imo

He beat the **** out of Eastman in the fight before, and lost a close-ish decision to Tito in his next one

Interesting thing to notice: Tank was one of the first (maybe the first ?) to use these MMA gloves IIRC.....:think

Melton Bowen wore MMA gloves against Steve Jennum before Tank came along.

Interestingly enough, Melton was recently in the news. He was friends with Rudy Eugene, the guy that ate the homeless fellas face in Florida, and claims that he once knocked him out with one punch. They were arguing about music and Eugene attacked him. Fun fact!

Jennum was actually pretty decent. Well rounded for the era. Bowen also gives up one of the easiest armbars you will ever see in this one.

    Florian v Sherk

A fitting battle for the re-instated 155 belt. A hard fought contest, with Sherk sweeping the rounds 5-0 on my card but Kenny had his fleeting moments and was always in the fight. That elbow from Kenny in the 2nd to Sean's forehead left the canvass looking like and aborted Jackson Pollock painting. Sherk passes the guard into side control and goes for an armbar but Kenny hit a beautiful sweep and reversal in the 1st round but there was much time left on the clock to make it count. Really impressed with Sherk. Of course his takedowns are top notch and won him the fight, but his short hooks and uppercuts on the inside constantly back Kenny up, and as the fight wore on Sherk timed Kenny's jab perfectly with a counter hook. But on the mat is where the majority of the action took place. This in unfairly regarded as a l'n'p fest, but the action is relentless. Sherk sets a very high tempo and he was constantly looking for subs on the mat. If they both weren't so slippery with blood Sean may have got the tap with an armbar in the 3rd and an rnc in the 4th. But Kenny hung tough and deserves credit

I think that if this version of Sherk was around at 145 today, he'd be Jose Aldo's worst nightmare.
