The whole Hatton 'HAS' to retire is bollocks.

Ricky might not be the fighter he once was, I'm someone who believes that he is past his prime but he still has a lot to offer to his division. The man has his only two losses to the number one P4P fighters at the given time, one of the losses involved him moving up in weight.. the other loss was a thunderous left hand that would have dropped most fighters.

Take Maliagnaggi fight, he took that has a tune-up going into the Pac fight and won clearly against a fighter who recently got a really bad decision against a leading 140 pounder in Juan Diaz, which I personally had him winning by a good few rounds. People can say what they like about the whole Mcgirt and the new change of trainer thing, but that dont change my mind that Paulie would get a W over Hatton, he was totally outclassed. That shows that Hatton can still do it. Yeah he looked like **** against Lazcano but that was his come back fight and he wanted to make a big impression, but he still came out with the W.

In all honesty if Hatton came back now he would still be a leading fighter in the division and would win against the likes of Diaz, Witter, Campbell etc which means that he still has a lot to offer. If he is going to call it a day then fair enough to him, he has achieved a lot in the sport and gave me and many other fans a good few nights to remember but if he was going to come back, perhaps try and end his career with a win or take a few more fights then I'll fully back him because I don't think there's any questioning the fact that he can still do a job in the division. I'm not trying to come across as a deluded Hatton fan saying he can do this and he can do that, but like I've said time and time again in this post, I still think he can offer the 140 division a lot.

The only reason i think he should retire is because he cannot comepete at the ATG level. Hes already beat plently of world level good fighters and was lineal champ, a pretty dominant one at that. He cant beat the likes of marquez, pacquiao, mayweather, mosley but he could probably clean house with guys like campbell and bradley. Everytime he fights now though, he nows he wont be entering ATG discussions, so his hunger will probably die.

 

I still reckon the weight ballooning caused his decline. He was showing major signs of losing his punch resistance way before the pac fight.

Hatton has another good win in him before he retires. Thats why he shouldnt go out on a loss IMO.
For all I hated him, the guy proved me wrong & had a fine career.

& his career shouldnt end on a devastating L, Hatton should whip himself into shape for himself & his fans, & collect another belt before he calls it a day.
Even as a former hater, I wouldnt grudge Hatton a fitting farewell. He was good to his fans, & he owes them a last hurrah.

I don't get it, Ricky looked a million dollars against Steven Smith and Carlos Vilches, but couldn't reproduce that form against Pac or PBF. He must be shot, but he used to be great.

Hatton doesn't live like a proffesional athlete. He doesn't stay in shape, he doesn't eat right, and his unhealthy lifestyle is a bit of a joke.

Can you imagine B-Hop ballooning up to 260lbs between fights at Light-Heavy?

Hatton walks around as a lardy Super-Middle, and fights at 140 atsch - You can only get away with this for so long, before it catches up with you - which is what has happened to Hatton. Yeah, ok he could probably beat a few 'c' class fighters, but whats the point at this stage in his career?

He's been on the slide since Mayweather, and if he isn't completely shot I dont think he is very far off it.
