Hatton lost to the best, & its about time you two, like me gave him his respect.
Be honest to yourselves, Hatton had a better career than any of us haters ever imagined possible.

I mean, if my hero Scotty Harrison won the belts Hatton did, I would be a very proud man right now.

I used to hate like you, but now that the dust has settled, its about time you boys gave Hatton his dues, & thought about how bored you would have been here for years if you didnt have Ricky to hate on!

I know, cos I was that hater.

That was then, & this is now though. & at the end of the day, Hatton fought the best in their prime. He stepped up to the plate. He shouldnt be slaughtered for it, he had much bigger balls than Calzaghe at the end of the day.

Hatton did what was financially best for himself. Thats not a man il give kudos too. His intentions were not honourable. Calzaghe was no diffrent.

 

I just read the sky sports article about him not having the 'fire in his belly' (which is such a gay term) and that he might have the same thing as Mayweather where he'll get itchy feet another day. Ricky, Mayweather didn't retire because he got plonked on his arse twice and suffered the knockout of the year, he retired because in his eyes, there was no more big money fights for a little while and decided to chill and get some money in other areas. You've just let arrogance overcome you and can't even bear to watch yourself being KO'd and see what went wrong, even to me that seems arrogant.

 

Seen that on Sky Sports as well mate, Another thing Mayweather didnt do was eat his bodyweight in junk food and drink like a fish while he was away. I think if Hatton is planning on staying away for a while, if he isnt finished already he certainly will be when he comes back if that makes sense. The way that lad goes on inbeetween fights is shocking, I read an article about B Hop once and he said he never ate a bar of chocolate for 20 odd years, thats the difference beetween him fighting into his 40s and Hatton being "finished" in his very early 30s. Well one of the differences anyway.

 

Hatton continues it will be as a stepping stone.

 

He doesn't have to retire no, but why the **** carry on? What for?

He has had 2 shots at the absolute pinnacle and come up badly short. He has made an absolute fortune, and the only way left for him to go now is downhill if he keeps fighting.

If he has enough in the tank to clean out light welter again, then fair enough good luck. but I doubt he has the desire now anyway.

The way I see it, he has done what he set out to do. He has made his money, probably way more than he ever thought he would make. He has earned respect, he has some good wins on his resume and he fought the best and came up short twice. He has a legacy of sorts as a hugely popular and game fighter, and as a fine light welter - the greatest since Tzsyu.

The only fight left for Hatton in my opinion, is Khan. If he can be bothered. The fight is winnable, a good domestic 'farewell fight' would do big bucks in the UK, and gives him a chance to enhance his legacy in the event of a win and Khan later goes on to do well.

 

Because he loves to fight? I know people don't often consider that in this sport, but it is quite possible.

The same way 'shot' footballers carry on way past their peak for shite teams.

 

I think the idea would be for Khan to establish himself at 140 with a couple of decent wins, and THEN Hatton fight him.

 

RJJ is a great example of this. I'm sure he's well aware that he can 't perform at the high level he used to, but he loves to fight, and thats why he keeps going. Shows a real passion for the sport - that is admirable.

Hatton could have raked in the money & not went anywhere near Floyd or Pac.
Frank Warren admitted the same, Hatton could have sold out stadiums around Britain for years & not went near the top dogs.

Look, Im not a Hatton fan. & Its my belief that his ego more than his business brain made him take the biggest fights, but no matter what took Hatton to elite fights against prime P4Pers, Hatton took 'em, & gave the lovers, the haters, the neeutrals what they wanted to see. & we seen it.

Hatton for whatever reasons took the big fights, gave us what we wanted & should always be given credit for that IMO.

Deep down Scurla, you know its true too. & thats why I give him his respect. He wasnt as good as himself & his huggers thought he was, but he was man enough to give it a go, & can retire with one helluva belt collection, a collection that most fighters would kill for.

 

I think Hatton has been a credit to british boxing, i thought he was going to dodge the best and do a Joe Calzaghe but he didnt he thought the best, he come up short but at least he can say that he thought P4P best fighters in the world who where in there primes, Good luck to whatever he does in the future.... If he decides to fight on i think it should be sooner rather than later because of the way he balloons up in weight.

Also if he does decide to fight on theres got to be the fight with Khan.

 

Dunky, I disagree. Hatton has used the sport to his own benefit, selfishness and greed, and has given **** all back to the sport. Manouvred himself to a couple of fights for what he built up (fraudulently) as fights for the 'p4p title'....then when he got duffed up the excuses poured out...and after the Collazo fight. That was after giving it the billy big bollocks routine building up to the fights.
He got paid handsomely for being in fights he never deserved to be in, thought he could con people into thinking he was the p4p best if he won, then when he didn't he made a load of excuses and continued to refer to himself in the 3rd person. The boy is a joke, a fraud.

Are you kidding me? Dunky he was number 1 in his division. He wouldnt even fight the number 2 in his division. But economically it made much more sense to face Pac and Floyd at catchweights or up at 47. Everytime he lost there was an excuse. But dont get it twisted those fights happened because it made financial sense. Dont try and kid yourself otherwise.
