WBA regular champ is just a glorified no1 contender in reality, we all know the Super champ is the real champ

Just like WBC interim champ which nobody credits as being a champ

    True.
And that means AJ's belt is a paper title.
On the other hand, Tyson Fury ended up giving up the other belts anyway without defending them, and that's where we're at now.

Ricky Hatton dined out on the WBU belt for years. The IBO is at least as (if not more) prestigious as the WBU.

The Eubanks are shills, pure and simple. Senior had some good matches but he also avoided all the top American fighters and went tooth and nail with some pretty average fighters. Jr has fought one fighter who could be considered world class and he lost. I don't think he'd beat Saunders in a rematch and I don't think he'll go anywhere near any of the fighters he's calling out. He's a tough kid for sure and he's got a good engine, but he's too easy to hit and doesn't punch hard enough to beat the lies of DeGale, Golovkin or any of the other fighters he's named.

Power ain't everything but after so many fights against average opposition I think we can make a call on him having limited power for sure.

It's the cynicism that gets you.
Ducks hard fights then fights an unknown fighter for a belt no one had heard of.
They're simply playing on the Eubank name to attract the casuals and hope they'll pay for the PPV which is an absolute joke.
The only time he did step up to fight the mediocre Saunders he got beat.
The whole thing is an insult to the intelligence of the regular fight fan.

absolutely, but it's become common place in Britain and Germany especially, since the days of sven ottke
the average joe blow on the street doesn't know the difference between a paper champion and the real deal - and neither does the media.
it allows second tier fighters to make first tier $$$ without ever having to step up
    it's scandalous

But Ricky didn't call himself a world champion back then, nor charge people PPV. Ricky's WBU belt was merely used as a milestone in his career until he was ready to step up and fight for a reality world championship belt. It was all development and acknowledged as much.

Jr is acting like he's now officialy the super middleweight and middleweight no.1 having beaten a novice.

Great post- agree with every word.

    They are on the con.

Although domestic level fights can be entertaining, they are not if you are above the level of your domestic level opponents. CEJ needs to step it up- but his father will ensure he continues to face non world level opposition.

Search my post history for anything to do with Jacobs or ggg's number of defences...good luck.

hatton clearly and blatantly didnt think he was world class, not until beating a legit opponent.

i cant believe that eubank will ever beat someone world class.

Benn was world class without a doubt, his doggedness and power making up for his lack of finesse. Borderline elite after beating GMAC.

Eubank had an ATG chin, but lacked the other attributes at world class level. He never seemed to get hurt, I think I saw him falter twice and fall once only when he was a stand-in at late notice from 2 divisions away cutting a lot of weight.

Watson was the best boxer of the three, world class skills but we wont know if he could have gone on to become an elite.

GMAC was a potential elite or borderline , but we will never know now.
