Hi all. I want to make a little highlight video for studying purposes on the wide right to the body (or right hook to the body). It seems to be a lost punch and was wondering if you knew of any fighters that were great at doing it? Particularly from longe/mid range. So far I have charley burley and Roy jones. Thanks
Mayweather vs Gatti is a perfect example, Won't go into detail as I'm on my phone, but most body punches are forgotten in Boxing.
Mike mccallum from close range, tyson from inside the pocket (mid range) duran, henry armstrong, ezzard charles. Lewis and ezzard charles used to throw a short hook to the body then bolo the ringht, throw a long left hook with a right hand down the pipe, love than combo. Its the best punch in boxing imo, straight left to the mid section (solar plexus) os another great punch, burley could left uppercut the body well that's another good punch from orthadox stance.
Rearhand hook to the liver is the best shot in boxing. (in terms of how effective it can bring some guy down if it hits flush) Otherwise a normal orthodox left hook would do the job.
Thanks. Yeah it's a great punch. It can nullify your opponents jab and once he's worried about it, you can feint it and come over the top. Love the start of this fight, skip to 2:10 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZj7ehH1ZH8[/ame]
Julian Jackson was absolutely great at this. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHoxswJqd00[/ame] and it sounds like he's cracking Drayton with a baseball bat [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_t4kN4oJvE[/ame]
I have not recheck this, but was not Roy Jones KO punch against Hill a right to the side? I remember it was thrown pretty wide and more to the side than to the front.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULdnQQ8Gh1o[/ame] SRR would effortlessly throw it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-EWPlSHxek[/ame] Uses it here to set up the KO
