The guy who got into boxing at a late 23 because he lost his job as a croupier, a young fighter who's following his legendary father's footsteps, a boxer who's improving in front of our eyes doesn't have a bandwagon around here, as it seems even our Puerto Rican posters are hesitant to stand behind their latest champ who doesn't impress with a slick, flashy style, supreme handspeed or goodnite power, but who's slowly developing into a force to recon with at a deep 122lbs class.

Well, the wagonless days of Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. are over, and I want YOU to join this Rican Roulette and gamble with me to see where this story ends!

Exactly, he's not like Chavez Jr., he's doing his own thing which is really good. Didn't know he started boxing that late.

Vazquez Jr. is fighting Ivan Hernandez on Saturday. Herdnadez is 27 and holds a KO victory over the aging Mark Johnson but also lost to Montiel, Izzy Vazquez and Nishioka. It's a good mid-level title defence for WV2 and if he passes it with flying colors I expect him to appear on one of the big US networks, likely vs. a bigger name.

I've started liking him actually. I really hope hes able to get to the next level in boxing and hopefully we see him in some meaningful fights soon (not that he hasnt been in any, many fights are meaningful to the stage they are relivent at, but I'm talking that next step so to speak)

    I'm rooting for him. :good

Wilfredo Jr is a class act! I rate him! As a matter of fact as I've never been to Puerto Rico so I may head on up from Australia next time he fights to check him out in action in person but I'll be expecting some of the Puerto Rican's from ESB to put me up and show me the sites!
