I'm not going to argue that it was against great opposition, but the fact is he has grown INTO a puncher.

Go ask Cintron, Williams, or Alex Bunema if Martinez is a soft puncher.

He's not. I judge things with my eyes, and Martinez is not a feather-fist, he CAN punch.

    You're judging **** by Boxrec.

No he's not a puncher. He's not feather fisted but he's not a "puncher". He's got decent power.

Just for the record Williams was hurt in the end of the Margo fight. If this was a 15 rounder he was going down.

..but guys haven't fought or trained for 15 round fights for how long? Williams and Margo have never trained for 15. That excuse is null and void these days.

Doesn't really matter if they are terrible. They can still be tough and hard to get out of there.

Last night during the fight I thought to myself that people on Eastside would start saying that Pavlik would KO Williams since Martinez was able to hurt him. You are right that if Pavlik landed the right punch he would hurt him. However, Pavlik is a robotic, lumbering, straight forward fighter who doesn't punch at odd angles. I guarantee you that Williams would overwhelm Pavlik with punches and Pavlik would get tired. Williams showed that no matter the case, he will keep throwing until he wears you out. Martinez nearly collapsed at one point due to exhaustion and had trouble getting up. I think that Williams would throw 1000 punches vs Pavlik but wouldn't be as reckless early on as he was last night. Cotto got wobbled by a Corley punch, does that mean that he has no chin? Williams by wide UD over Pavlik.

Posts like this is why I come here less and less often. Pavlik was not physically able to take the fight at this date. Remember Kermit Cintron being convinced he was head butted because "no on hits that hard"? :patsch Just :patsch

Williams may have been a lttle stunned, but he was not hurt. When he got knocked down, you saw him flailing around trying to keep his balance. Thats a clear sign that a guy is not hurt. If ur brain is seeing stars, you dont have the wherewithall to try and keep and ur balance.

And who was he fighting in the 17 fights???

The majority of them had losing records! They were absolute nobodies for the most part. Look at the records of the guys he fought in Spain. Records like 1-7-1 or 3-34-2. Knocking out part time fighters doesnt make you a big hitter.

Pavlik would knock Williams out clean if they ever fought.

Pavlik would be outboxed?? Say what you want about Taylor, his chin may be gone, but he was one of the most skilled boxers out there over the pasr decade, and he didnt manage to outbox Pavlik.

You may have watched a Pavlik fight in the past but you obviously weren't paying attention at all were you?

Taylor was one of the most skilled my ass. he was explosive and a good natural athlete but he was very unrefined as a boxer. His lack of skill to compliment his athleticism is what kept him from reaching his potential.

i thought martinez can crack before they fought. Don't let the ko ratio fool u. He is a boxer first, but he had to get paul's respect last night.

All right. I am not saying that Pavlik isn't a good boxer technically. I am just saying that he has heavy feet and that his punches do not come from different angles. He definitely has the power to hurt Williams (or any one else for that matter) but he doesn't present the same types of problems that Martinez does. I am curious, do you think that Pavlik would route Williams based on the fact that he got wobbled and cut last night?
