Cotto showed more craft down the stretch of the Mosley fight than Margarito ever has. No one is saying he's Mayweather. Antonio lacks versatility and Williams took advantage. He finally was able to force his fight onto Williams in the mid- to late rounds, but even then he couldn't close (i.e., the lopsided 12th).

Cotto has a style both in terms of body type and punch arsenal to match up well with Paul. It wouldn't be easy, and sure he could lose, but I think he'd get inside, use his leverage and thud punches off Williams' ribs before bringing his punches up later.

Also, as much as I like Williams and believe he'd beat Mayweather, his words are wasted. He doesn't have the marketing power to command a fight that large, and he really doesn't have it for Cotto, either, although he may get that fight if he dominates Quintana as Miguel did, and Floyd remains elusive to Cotto.

Antonio lost the 9th round in between the 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th as I previously posted in this thread. I totally agree that he is one-dimensional or lacks the versatility when things don't go his way but still there are some who say he is exciting and crowd-pleasing.

I strongly disagree that Cotto can match up with Williams in terms of styles though. Williams has a reach of 82'', 83'' and lets his hands go loose in combinations of four, five punches a time - double, triple jabs, unleashes a speedy str8 left counter, finishes up with a short, sharp right hook upstairs or a body shot, exploring well his flexible body and the angles he creates. Cotto comes in with a high arm guard and hard muscled bulk, gloves protecting his temples n elbows hangin in there, makin no contact with his body such is the thickness of his trunk ( check it out), chin low right in between those huge shoulders in a semi-crouched position, pretty stiff and swinging away to hit anything, anywhere ( the sequence that cut Bailey, the slammin that stopped Pinto, the steamrollin that had Zab outa there). M. A. Cotto can punch back very hard ( monster counter left hooks) in between those speedy one-twos he's usually caught with like against Paulie M. for the WBO Jr WW title ( 2nd round knockdown) but at 5'7'' of height and 67'' of reach, he can't get inside often enough and outwork PW cuz PW will be retreating n out-working him at the distance.

No doubts PW can't demand or make a Mayweather fight happen cuz he has no marketing power but that's exactly why he is taking Margarito's label now as the most avoided man in box. If that Cotto fight doesn't happen either and he wins a late TKO or a lopsided UD against Quintana, he still has the winner of Cintron-Clottey, Margarito-Judah, Mosley, up-comer and top rated WBC contender Berto and the 154 pound division.
