Bowe Golota 2 was brutal and Bowe actually ended up "winning" the fight. I was telling people it should of been stopped by end of the 7th. Ruined the man.

What about Benn vs McCellan. This resulted in horrific life long injuries to McCellan. Any fight where the fighter has to retire after a bout is a sad result for boxing.
    Holmes vs Cobb
    Hagler vs Hamsho One

Wouldnt personally put Tyson/Biggs in this category. The fight lasted 7 rounds.
First round Biggs won. Round 2 wasn't that remarkable. Tyson dominated the fight by way of being the first to engage thereafter and landed 3 or 4 good combinations per round . There were some quiet spells and although ineffective Biggs was firing back.Round 7 Biggs wasn't actually catching many shots until he was caught close to the end. He was physically and mentally drained from trying to keep Tyson away.He wasn't ' knocked out' in the purest sense and if you watch it, it wasn't the prolonged massacre it was made out to be. Dominant yes.

The Ring did an article on this topic on heavyweights in a 1957 issue. Up to that time, because it lasted 10 rounds, they reasoned that Tommy Jackson was the victim of the worst beating that was administered by the fast fists of Patterson in their title fight.

I had never heard about this before now. It's got my attention now and I'm hoping I can find some footage. I never heard of Reid being a nasty guy or anything... I would imagine a good amount of boxers are fairly detached when it comes to the damage they can inflict on an opponent.

Was it lightweight champ Jimmy Carter vs a guy named Tommy Collins or something like that. Floored him like 11 times. Not sure about the Collins name but it was something like that:gayfight:

Yes, he did, but he went into a deep depression after the beatdown and started drinking. It may not have been a purposeful suicide, but it was pretty close.

You sir are right. I stand corrected.
Tyrells drug problem sadly had peaked before this fight .it's arguable the erosion of skills had started a while before tyson.at that point Tyrell just could not move for many rounds.carl Williams could so could Larry even in 85/86.the duvas cashed in .

He posed near Valdez when he was on the floor. I think he thought it was just a knockout, but then the stretcher came out. He was apologetic later.
