More shows in UK, more licensed pro fighters and a growth in the amateur game, yep boxing's dying buddy.

Take the point about those massive fights not happening but there's plenty of others coming through. The US game is struggling, compared to the a golden age, but look to Europe, the latin America - not dying

 

Yeah middleweight looks very healthy for the future, no doubt about that.

 

I hope you're right about the MW division, it's been in the doldrums since Hopkins left and is in desperate need for either a dominant champ or some unification fights but is Martinez going to be that man?

 

I'm a middleweight obsessive and I think if HBO come forward and back it then we'll have some fireworks. And with Martinez as torch bearer it'll get the exposure.

Pirog, N'Jikam, Sylvester, even Daniel Geale, Macklin, Barker, Golovkin, Lemieux...

There's depth. But a lot of the guys are still to take the BIG step up. If they fulfill expectation, we may not get the golden era back, but we will have some good nights.

Hope you're right mate it's a weight category that has a lot going for it in terms of the delivering the sorts of fights that get the punters in terms of size, punching power, speed etc.

 

People have been moaning that boxing is dying for years. There have been occasions where it has teetered on the edge, but not at the moment.

Want to know a little secret about boxing? Ever since the beginning of time, including the so called eight division, one champion era, (whenever that was), for every superfight made and fought, at least three never happened.

Boxing could do with more terrestrial coverage, British boxing could do with less coverage on the Satellite channels (to boost attendances), but at the moment boxing particularly in this country is in fair to good shape.

Just because things could be a whole lot better with publicly known fighters going up against each other on Sportsnight and Big Fight Special doesn't mean that boxing is dying. Just that boxing fans always want more more more, which is fair enough.

 

118, 135 and 140 will have some great (and I mean GREAT) fights this year.

This is definately the leanest period in all boxing history, without doubt. But there is some excellent fights/fighters out there and some quality talent coming through. Inever lose faith. Boxing will never die!
