If you are looking for some fresh boxing content and a distraction that's a little more light hearted considering the current environment, then I’ve got you covered! I covered the WORST boxing show I ever saw and many of you might have seen too. Does anyone remember the show? The Next Great Champ aired in 2005 and was viewing TRASH, but at the same time very entertaining to watch, 12 boxers, sourced from the bottom of the barrel, fought against each other for a Golden Boy Promotions contract, a world title fight down the line and 3/4 of a million dollars. Alongside needless elements like confidants and rule changes, were challenges that led to injuries and payoffs through low quality boxing fights which no amount of editing could save... BUT the show does provide hidden gems of funny meme-worthy moments which I have uncovered after having watched the whole series (genuinely worth a watch if you want something to laugh at) This content is protected On the video, I give you my take on the show as well as putting in some jokes, a skit and memes to keep you entertained. Hope you all enjoy and it provides a distraction for a little while! Please drop a like and a comment on the video on my youtube channel if you enjoyed it and subscribe if you haven't already. All feedback is welcome. Aymz
Definitely not the worst, BUT for the price and the HUGE amount of exposure: Mayweather/ Pacquiao. The fight was to rich guys not talking risk. The undercard was totally forgettable..all for a price tag of $100. Boxing took a bit of a hit that night.
Haha, that's funny. The origin story of Otis Griffin, eh? Didn't know. Did the "WBO title shot" ever come off? Just to think how many lower-weight champions make a quarter of this 750k sum to defend their titles...
Haha, what a buster! Sorry your boy couldn't make it a competitive fight and sorry you expected otherwise.
That "fight " was a travesty. Floyd should have been jailed along with Bob Bennett & the Vegas mafia. Did Bob really think that "Mr Mayweather did nothing wrong so we will not be investigating" REALLY cleared him of Ped's abuse???????. Pac was never given a chance He was beaten before he ever left his dressing room
Tijuana Tumblers at the Albert Hall in, I think, 1981. Mike Barrett and Mickey Duff brought in a job lot who all went down to the house Fighters within 2 rounds a piece. It even made the kids' TV news programme, John Craven's Newaround ! I reckon McVey was there. He'll tell you. Also, wasn't there a show in New Orleans with bare knuckle types against Boxers ? Bloke from Wolverhampton went in with Bert Cooper. I think it's on You Tube.
Pacquiao isn't my boy. I never mentioned the result. Everything I wrote is true. Can you name anyone who was happy they spent100 dollars on that card? Do a poll. The fight was talked about for over five years. And then for whatever reason, they fought like it was a local club four rounder. A little disappointing for fighters making 9 figure paychecks. Where was the passion? The undercard should of been stacked. It wasn't. Oh yeah, The world was also watching. How could that not be bad for boxing.
Couple of points 1st. Great Big Thx! I totally forgot this show. 2nd. R.C. REYES...yeah I remember him about to break down in tears saying "i love my mother oh, you have no idea." In tears almost every episode I really looked forward to this show and man did it dissappoint. For me, I didn't care for the camera constantly turning to their corner people. I was like- Can you show at least 30 seconds of fighting? But the camera always had to show the look on their siginificant other's face. Now the confusion: There was a show called The Contender" Aymz, I thought the next great champ came after the contender which made it a carbon copy- but the dates are conflicting, making it appear Great Champ aired 1st. Plus the Contender produced a noboyd that went on to fight top ranked contenders. This dude Alfonzo Gomez took Peter Manfredo's '0'. Breaking a lot of Gatti fans heart when he beat him into quitting. Cotto, Karass, Castillo, Porter & Even Saul Alvarez. Ishe Smith was another one, but he sued Contender & went to GBP Next Great Champ. Typing this just made me remember even Segio "The Latin' Snake Mora won the Contender. Amazing how the Contender produced fighters who went on to do some things, but comparing to GBP's Next Great Champ? A friend of mine was real cool with Otis Griffin, so I tended to give him the benefit of the doubt. This content is protected This is about trust- All you are blind folded you will be tied to the ground with a bungy chord to test get this (your listening skills). Your job is to collect each medicine ball-and deliver it to your confidant. And then comes the tear-swelling musical score to accentuate the drama. Great thread! Brings back some laughable memories, especially remembering how I anticipated DLH to deliver a great show, not.
Glad you enjoyed it, Its a truly crazy but entertaining show, I have done a few videos on the contender which you can check out on my channel Hahah DLH definitely didn't deliver on the occasion!
Thanks Aydamn for the feedback, it helps a lot. If you haven't already, hit that subscribe button! The whole show was very kitchen nightmares...and ended up being a boxing nightmare!
