When your color commentary guy openly dislikes a fighter, AND repeatedly uses the broadcast to discuss his dislike for said fighter, AND frames his commentary in such a way that disparages said fighter for things that are not happening in the ring at the moment, then that, dear sir, is a blatant breach of professionalism.

The criticism is that Merchant offers no insights. None. Zip. Zero.

Repeating: How often have you as a fan learned anything about the 'why' of the fight going on or even about boxing itself from Larry Merchant's color commentary? How often has Lary Merchant offered you any type of useful analysis about the fight you were watching?

I think that's why HBO does a 3 man team.

I havent seen enough of HBO's broadcasting team from the past, but they always seem to work in 3's.

    Lampley: play by play
    Merchant: Memorable quotes and reactions
    Pro boxer/trainer: technical stuff

Lampley is a disgrace. Fire him and hire Tessitore, who is always professional.

1.George Foreman on the Hopkins-Tito fight, Big George's bias was ****ing embarrassing.

2.Jim Watt on any Floyd Mayweather fight. The strange noise you can always hear in the background is his co-commentator wiping the semen off the microphone after old Jim has blown his load for the 8th time.
