Personally, I am not arrogant. I only look down to people who use avatars and smilies!;)

I read Carmen Basilio's book "The Onion Farmer" Im from Upstate NY around here he's like a god! it talked about how Frankie Carbo tried to make Carmen play ball and Carmen told him to get out of his face before he punched him in the nose or something along those lines. It delayed his title shot but he remained clean got admire him for that especially coming from an Italian American background

I was amazed at the way Don King controlled the WBC, etc and was caught paying off John Ort from Ring magazine to make fighters have higher ratings in the TV tournament, he even had a Holmes opponent Tom Prater lifted in the ratings to make it look like Holmes was beating someone.

But I have to tell you I have been seeing some horrible decisions lately and some corrupt stoppages. The Kirkland fight recently. The Gomez fight in Germany . Almost every HBO or Showtime fight has been marred by a bad decision lately, it is now expected to have at least one bad decsion per card especially when it is a house fighter

No, what evidence is there? The 1950s was shown to be the most corrupt. Things like the Internet and worldwide media make the sport more transparent and generally cleaner.

Yes I dare say there is corruption in the sport now. But there is a big difference between a judge not scoring a fight the way I did; mis-scoring a fight because they had an off day; mis-scoring a fight because they are not up to the job and mis-scoring a fight because they are corrupt.

Well DKP does not have the same influence in the game, that it had in the mid 70s through to the mid 90s.

So using King, are you actually saying 20-40 years ago?

No that was just an example, although it wasn't that long ago he was manipulating the heavyweight division on Tysons release.

The only difference between now & the 50's is that like every other scam, it's a lot more slick now.

Anyone interested in this stuff should read "Boxing Confidential" by Jim Brady. It's a very thorough and entertaining history of corruption in boxing

I agree to a point, but transparency makes the sport that bit cleaner now a days. Take for example boxrec. Now a days promotors can not blag opponents records like they used to. I used to go to a fair few shows in London in the late 80s/early 90s, and I lost count of them 20-0 African contenders that Messrs Duff, Lawless et al managed to find. Yet these fighters all seemed to find a soft spot in the ring to fall inside a couple of rounds. Not to mention the tough 45-4 Mexicans who fell inside four rounds, and looking back on boxrec, were probably a lot closer to 4-45...
