Froch vs Bute was a serious thumping on Bute.

Foreman vs Frazier I has to be up there on the list

    Quote:
Foreman brutalized Frazier for the duration of the fight, scoring six knockdowns over the champion. In ABC's television re-broadcast, Howard Cosell made the legendary exclamation: "Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!"

Ah yes, Tszyu vs Gonzalez was very nasty. That could’ve/should’ve been stopped several rounds earlier IIRC, going too far into permanent injury, possible fatality zone.

I guess he didn’t necessarily beat them down but he sure did beat them up - and the scorecards were extremely wide - Ali vs Terrell and Ali vs Chuvalo. Had Liston not surrendered on his stool Ali might’ve begun dealing out a clear one sided beat down over the next few rounds.

    Manny Pacquiao-Marco Antonio Barrera 1
    Manny Pacquiao-David Diaz

Bernard Hopkins-William Joppy was pretty bad. It was gradual, and Hopkins’s shots weren’t as flashy, but it was bad. There was a side bet between the two at 2-1 odds on whether or not Joppy would get stopped. If Joppy got stopped, he would pay Hopkins $25k. He lasted the distance, and Hopkins had to pay Joppy $50k.

Joppy really paid the price, as he took a bad beating and looked like a chipmunk by the time the fight ended.

I enjoy the boxrec description of it, particularly the ref’s comments

    https://boxrec.com/wiki/index.php/Andrew_Hartley_vs._Charlie_Zelenoff

    From Deep South Boxing.com:

In the feature fight on the undercard, Fort Smith’s Andrew “Kid Thunder” Hartley put an exclamation mark on his promise to shut down and shut up debuting California lightweight Charlie “Russian Pride” Zelenoff. Zelenoff turned out to be a “lightweight” in more than just classification.

Zelenoff, who had called out Hartley in a series of profanity-laced Internet videos on YouTube and through other postings on BoxRec, lasted 1:14 into the first round before intentionally spitting out his mouthpiece for the third time. He drew a disqualification in the much bally-hooed showdown.

“He (Zelenoff) was shouting at me the whole time that Hartley was cheating,” said referee Thomasson. “Unless the definition of cheating has been changed to 'he’s hitting me too much' I didn’t see much merit in his complaint. I disqualified him for deliberately spitting out his mouthpiece.”

Barrera was ranked #3 on the P4P rankings at the end of 02’.

I remember being surprised, and obviously impressed, when it happened. I thought Barrera would win.
