What evidence do you have, that a fighter like Monzon could beat Golovkin, or a fighter like Ali could beat Kovalev :think Or a fighter like Sugar Ray Robinson could beat Mayweather or Pacman? You have NO evidence of what the outcome would be. COMMON SENSE.

atsch They are ALL DRIVEN by Nostalgia. There is no logical deduction when comparing fighters from different time periods. A fighter can be dominant in the 80's but be complete fodder to the elites of today. The posters in the Classic section may be knowledgeable, BUT their opinions are impossible to validate, hypothetical matchups are Utterly subjective. And of course, since 90 percent of the posters are American, having a Ruskie favored over an American icon is NOT going to be preferred. :deal

I came on this thread to look at the responses. I am not wasting my time disagreeing with either Cisco or you about the topic because I don't feel that is worthwhile. In fact, without you and the other gent whining about Cisco, this thread probably would have died by now.

 

You really think those guys are logical? I deal with reality, most of those guys probably assume Sugar Ray Robinson knocks out Kovalev as well :deal I highly doubt the majority of them will be logical or rational, and the majority are going to favor an American icon over a Russian, obviously.

 

the "so called elite" at 160 is a former 140 lber who spent the prime of his career at 147...and the other is a kid who doesnt have one fight or win at the full 160 limit yet......soooooo ummm....i dunno what yer looking for....i guess lemieux is about as close to elite as it gets at 160 right ......

avoided like margarito? take your blinders off..margs was never avoided....floyd agreed to fight him and bob arum confirmed it.....the problem was floyd wanted 12 mil future guarantees against cotto and hatton....and cheap ass bob would only do 10 each....so floyd bounced.....bob even said nice things right after that happened because he thought floyd would work with top rank again in the future.....then when floyd started working with oscars company bob started running his mouth about floyd being afraid of margarito.....and as usual....you pac fans ate it up like its a truth or fact....even though bob has been quoted in the past as singing a completely different tune....margarito was never avoided....he got the tar kicked out of him by shane mosley and cotto
