Your opinions please: Do you think it hurts the sport of Boxing to have it's best athlete appear in one of these wrestling events? In terms of perception. How do you feel about his most recent comments that he is considering leaving boxing and joining the WWE? Why would he even say this even if he is not serious about it? Will the casual fan equate boxing to wrestling because of this event? Interms of how it is fixed? I think that he has a right to make all the money in the world, and screw up his own legacy if he wants, but he should take into account what the consequences of his actions are being the "Man" in boxing and doing some freakshow like this. I hope that he does not get hurt, and that he can wake up sometime soon and fight on to become what he already thinks he is an ATG.
i been watching wresting for 20 years so im obviously a big fan. im also a big boxing fan. I dont think its hurts boxing, cuz like pimp c said holyfield and tyson and even ali have made appearances in the wwe. some people just take things too serious. its just all fun and entertaining. mayweather wants the exposure. he doesnt want to be known by only boxing fans. he has even told ricky hatton that he wished he had fan like him. this is why he is doing this. same with dancing with the stars. its for the exposure and at the same time he is making "supposedly" 20 million. i cant really hate on dude. he def will not get hurt because like everyone knows wrestling is fixed and there is no way he is gonna get involved in anything that will seriously hurt him. even when big show thru him out of the ring he practed that a few times before the show and wrestlers were showing him how to land and everything. but anyways, no i do not think it hurts boxing
I think it's fine, might even raise the profile of boxing a bit. My only worry is the bolded part; I think it's not the most logical conclusion to jump to, and there's no real reason to think that just because he shows up at a WWE event (that isnt' sanctioned by any boxing body) that boxing is fixed, but yeah: I think some people will draw this conclusion.
Evactly I'm a huge fan of both. But if you have a chance to make money, do it. I'm a mAYWEATHER FAN ALSO and to tell the truth this is more entertaining then a second fight with Hoya
hey if that's what it takes for more people to turn to boxing, then that's what it takes. pbf is, like it or not, the face of boxing. and if he can turn a few heads towards boxing by participating in wrestling then he's doing his job well. yes, it sucks that he is not fighting cotto or the other contender at 147 but at least he's doing something that could benefit boxing while he is waiting for another match with odlh
Actually a lot of great boxers fought in some reincarnations of WWF/WWE/NWA.Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Tyson, Holyfield just to name a few.
It's not a big deal. Boxing has a lot of serious problems, this isn't one of them. Mayweather taking a 9 month layoff, and taking part in a crap rematch, bothers me a lot more.
Someone needs to tell him that flashing money around is not a good look if you want to be the "good guy". He needs to pretend he's back on Jay Leno after beating Mayweather and smile and put on a nice guy act, a la De La Hoya.
