Yes...Dwyer is very, very good - the best youtube analyst by miles, for me...but he is biased and he does let his bias affect his analysis. However, he makes his bias explicit: for example, he based his Calzaghe v. Jones analysis on the assumption that Calzaghe CLEARLY lost to Hopkins. The way he scores fights, with an overemphasis on effective punching, he could call a fight going one way, the judges and all of us might give it the other way and he would still honestly believe that the man he picked to win won clearly.

I still consider Jones - Calzaghe an upset.

  4. Well anyone who knew boxing knew of Jones' fall from grace and the smart money had to be on Calzaghe you couldn't logically say (especially when advising on bets) that Jones would win because there was no evidence to say that only hope & romantic expectation through past accomplishments.

This is why I made the bias statement he allowed his love for Jones to skew his better judgement - generally he is incredibly accurate and clearly knows boxing just occasionally he needs to remind himself to go with the head not the heart and this fight was one of those occasions. ;)

Why's that? Most people, including myself, thought Calzaghe would win comfortably. I don't know how you could consider it an upset.

he's not that good. I can usually tell who he will pick before he picks him.

btw he picked Oscar as the big favorite but he doesn't pick KO or UD correct?

I remember him picking Golota to beat Ray Austin. He said Golota had been stopped early but Ray Austin did not have the power to come out and do a 1st or 2nd round job on Golota. Look what happened there !

Wrong, have you even watched his prediction video on that fight?

He actually made some good points in his video and mentioned actual reasons why he thought Jones will pull it off. One of those reasons, despite being weak, was his fight with Trinidad where Jones actually didn't look bad and that was the case in that fight. Not to forget that he believed Jones had the power advantage to possibly trouble Calzaghe, that also based on Calzaghe hitting the canvas against Hopkins and being hurt in that fight numerous times.

His points did turn out to be wrong as Calzaghe proved otherwise but you claiming he made his pick based on heart is completely wrong as the man had reasons. You disagreeing with his prediction doesn't mean you used your "head" and he didn't. ;)

Because I thought that Jones would win. I didn't even consider it an unlikely thing, or an outside bet, I was ****ing certain that Jones would do a number on him. Nearly bet a load of money on it too.

Jones is, even at his age, a far superior fighter to Calzaghe, he just doesn't have the physical tools at age 40 to assert his vastly superior skillset over Calzaghe.

That Dwyer guy makes too many noob mistakes with small facts. Plus picking Jones was terrible.

Anything short of proclamation of Calzaghes ATGness is bias, you're right.
