And STILL the WBA Featherweight Champion of the World! This content is protected Current pro record: This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 18
You may add a 6 rounder on March 14, Germany, to his schedule (if all goes well with his fights in February).
He's one of the most promising young talents I've ever seen. Gamboa has the skills to become a future star.
Like i said just now on that other Gamboa thread, this guy was the first fighter in long time to really make my jaw drop. He does need some pro seasoning though, he breaks a lot of textbook rules especially with his low guard and i'm not totally convinced yet that he's gifted enough to get away with that against a world-class fighter.
Viva la Cuba! Im am going to his Feb. 8th fight to hopefully witness a future ATG continue his march on his road to stardom. Very entertaining to watch, cant wait
This guy is busy as hell. He'll be here in Delaware - Feb. 8th - fighting on ESPN2. (I'll be there) Then he's turning around and fighting again on Feb. 22nd. A six rounder March 14th and then again on April 22nd. As good as he is - I hope they don't burn him out.
No way. Compared to his skill he's yet to fight a REALLY TOUGH fighter and I think the first tought fighter will be the first world champion he'll meet. So in these months, as he is fighting limited competition (but better opposition than some world champions) he just has to keep himself is shape and as long as he's knocking'em out without cuts or huge punches taken it's like sparing.
Fighting 4 time in 3 months - with all the travelling - you never know how one's body will react to something like that. He's a very exciting guy to watch - but even he'll need a break at some point.
Well, if you look at the young Tyson's early career or any old school fighter's early career you'll see a LOT of fights in a year. I think the logic here is to stay in shape like in the amateur days and fight 2-3-4 names in a 2-3 month long training camp and take a rest. A good preparation means 100+ rounds of sparing and these fights are like sparing matches for Gamboa. I don't see the danger here if he'll have a break after 3 months anyway.
He got mad skills, is exciting to watch, reminds me a bit of a lighter version of a young RJJ at times, I became a fan first time I saw him fight, so yes I believe he will be a star. However, he seems to be overconfident, he is too cocky for his own good, he definitely should quit neglecting his defense and stay focused or he might just experience a bad surprise in one of his fights.
Me too :thumbsup I just hope it lasts more than a round because I don't really give a damn about the other fights.
I have become a fan of Gamboa, too. Nice human being.Congratulated him on his breathtakingly great fight against Swedish based African Kebede(or whatever his name was) on Solis' undercard in Germany's capital Berlin. A classy fighter who is pure fun to watch. At times he seems to fight like he stems from outer space,an alien disguised as a human being. Great fighter, but he should get rid of all those golden chains around his neck and his black american gangster style.I dont know the USA,but here in europe he looks like a teenage clown with all those chains around his neck and his sleazy clothes.
I only seen 1 fight of him. I like him but I gotta see more to jump to conclusions. Anyone got links to a few of his fights?
