Dan Rafael reports than on his HBO debut, undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa will fight fellow undefeated Marcos Ramirez (25-0; 16KO, http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=54556&cat=boxer)

That's gonna be Gamboa's toughest test to date against the highly ranked Ramirez (5th by IBF, 2nd by WBO @ FW) who's yet to taste defeat!

Not much to say, only: WOW!

Yep... and that's not a good news... but fighting durable Rojas and undefeated Ramirez in just 5 weeks is a bit too much even for Gamboa... and now he has a few more weeks to get ready for the bigger one...

    Maybe a tune-up, but that's not necessary...

I hope he takes a tune up at Arena's April show in Turkey (very unlikely but this would be cool)...

According to Dan Rafael (today's chat), yet another Gamboa opponent decided that he has better things to do than getting his a** kicked big time so MARCOS RAMIREZ pulled out today... SHAME ON THE COWARD!

That's really bad news and this time both Gary Shaw and Ahmet Öner were in the right position to make a significant fight for the Cuban, and HBO said Ramirez is OK... so shame on Ramirez for pulling out of his HBO fight, the fight of his life... That's really a sad news because it's so hard to find a good opponent for Gamboa...

So... what's next for Yuri? Is Rojas back on? Will he be good enough for HBO? Or who should he fight?

Rojas is way better than Ramirez - I hope HBO will accept him as Gamboa's opponent...

Pull a George Foreman and have Yuriorkis fight four guys in the same night.

Interesting that the lastest news on Gamboa (which was posted on FN a few hours ago) is not talking about Ramirez pulling out... It says Gamboa is training hard for his HBO debut against undefeated Marcos Ramirez...

As there's also a training photo on FN, this time FN has to be more reliable than Rafael in his chat... So is this fight still on?

Not sure what the hell is going on, but Gamboa is already looking to be a highly ducked fighter :D

    GAMBOA-RAMIREZ IS OFFICIALLY OFF!

Sorry to report that, but the fight is off... the good news that Gamboa still gonna fight on the HBO and Öner looking for the replacement. "Obviously it's disappointing but we have to move forward," stated Öner. "The one thing I take a lot pride in is that none of my fighters have to be moved carefully. We fight the best fighters out there regardless of how good their record is."

As I've said before, Rojas would be an excellent choice. Of course there are a lot of names in the ranked boxers category, however St. Clair would be an excellent choise for Gamboa to get his first 10 round decision win against a very legitimate SFW...

Hmm they do seem to have plenty of time left finding an opponent almost as good as ramirez, right?
So maybe there is nothing to worry about..

It seems Arena Box-Promotion found the replace opponent for Gamboa. On his May 17th HBO debut, Yuriorkis will face Dominican Darling Jimenez (23-2; 14KO), a boxer who spent most of his pro career at LW, who's bigger and physically stronger than Gamboa and has never been stopped.

He's not rated by any organizations which is quite interesting since in his last fight he brutally KO'd former great talent Mike Anchondo in 3 - almost a year ago. But the main thing: he's a good, exciting, durable, strong opponent and it seems HBO accepted him, so it's ON!
