    Gamboa KO2 Ramirez!

What a fight! Although Ramirez put him down in the 1st, the replay clearly showed that it was an ELBOW that hurt him and sent him down. So before jumping on him still being open for precise punces (which is true), it wasn't a legit knockdown.

Not unlike his 2 KDs in the second! He put the unbeaten Ramirez down for the very first time in his whole career (amateur and pro) with a beautiful right uppercut followed by a couple of punches then for the 2nd time and for good with a huge combo of lefts and rights to the head and a really painful left hook to the body. Classic finishing punch, the last right uppercut wasn't even necessary. The ref counted Ramirez out although the count from nine to ten was very quick. But at 8 Ramirez still didn't respond and give a sign he wants to get up so he was counted out. Maybe the ref prevented us to see another highlight knockout but maybe that was the best for Ramirez' health, who suffers his first loss.

I hope this Gamboa 'chinny' nonsence stops now; he was caught with an ELBOW, barely touched down, fought back straight away, and needed just one clinch to get his head back together.

I think anyone who puts him down should get on their bike, not try and finish him off! I can see him being a bit more cautious if he eventually gets to LW...I think he knows he can take punches at FW/SFW (still a shame we didn't get to see him dismantle Valero at 130, but, nevermind!)

Notice that just before the second knock-down of Ramirez occurs, he (Ramirez) gets a hook in that wobbled Gamboa big time. But Ramirez was too far gone to notice let alone capitalize on that...

I love Gamboa. But he seems like a fighter waiting to be beaten by a more patient boxer(-puncher) with the style of like Juanma.
He (Gamboa) fights incredibly spectaculair. But his weaknesses are so obvious that I guess it's a matter of time untill he runs into the wrong guy. Of course that can be said about every fighter and I know that untill now none of his opponents really stood a chance, but still, I hope/think you guys get my point.

    Peace!!

Yep, he's hittable, he was down legitimately in the Jimenez fight, still arrogaint in the ring, still doesn't care about defending himself... Kellerman was spot on with the Hamed comperition.

Gifs on the elbow knockdown and the finishing combo. Look how the shoulder sets up the elbow :D

But where should he step up, guys? He fought former world title challenger Kebede in his 6th pro fight. Puncher and highly ranked Adailton De Jesus in his 7th. Ranked Johnny Edwards who beat Freddie Norwood before and again by KO after the Gamboa fight. Ranked Darling Jimenez (who's not at all a world beater but still a tough Dominican fighter) and now Ramirez with a padded record, I agree, not the best Gamboa has ever faced.

Also he was the first fighter to stop De Jesus, Johnnie Edwards, legitimately KO Al Seeger and the first one to knock down and ultimately stop Ramirez. And still at just 12 fights, he's done more than a lot others before stipping into the ring for a world title.

What he HAS to do is work on that D... but the next step up in competition in today's FW class is non other than Oscar Larios, as Larios is not as good as once was... Give Gamboa one or two more minor fights and he'll beat the warrior soul out of Chololo, I guarantee!

    World title fight next/soon?

"We are already negotiating with different world champions", states promoter Ahmet Öner. "Fact is that HBO wants to go on with Gamboa. I am pretty sure that we will agree on a date and opponent soon. Yuri is just incredible. He is without a doubt the most exciting prospect in the sport; the people just love his spectacular style. And we all want to see him go for a title."

    What do you think guys?
Is he ready for a Larios type of world champion?
What titles could they looking for? Maybe one of the vacant belts?
