Gamboa is going to get KOed by a solid, techincal fighter who can counter punch. He's got amazing raw talent but that only takes you so far. But he's exciting.

Possibly. Once he fights someone who can counter good and has a great defense, I think he's in trouble.

LoL. Okay, but he has only had 14 fights. I mean, when Hopkins was fighting bums even in his 23rd fight.

But Hopkins had little to no amateur career and had only started boxing when he came out of prison. Gamboa had an extensive amateur career.

Gamboa has had like 400 amatuer fights. He is what he is right now. There is not much more to polish.

True true. But I'm just tired of ppl saying stuff like "Amir Khan needs to step up his comp" or "Berto needs to step up his comp" or "Gamboa is only fighting bums" when guys like Hopkins was fighting bums when he had over 20 fights. These guys are so unpatient and all they wanna do is rush the future prospects.

I'm not talking about a specific weight class. I'm just saying in hypothetical terms. He completely sells out and ignores defense. When and if he faces a talented counterpuncher, he might get KOed. He's already been down 4 times in his brief pro career against bums. But he could also very well KO this same fighter. That's why he's exciting.

Hypothetical. That's what I'm saying. There is no one that can time him coming in,maybe Luevano but he's to stiff,I think he'd get KO'd.
    Btw Casamayor still hasn't shaved.

Really can't name one. Thats why Gamboa has a good chance of beating everyone in the division. I'd like to see him wait til the beginning of next year before he gets a title shot, but the route he's on, he's getting a title shot pretty soon. I wish he could fight a solid top 10 fighter like Cruz, but Id on't see that happeneing. Gamboa's offense is a problem to anyone though.

Didn't he move up to 130?
Anyway I doubt they will meet soon.

With the offensive attack that he has, I like him over Chris John

You guys can't ignore the fact that he's been down 4 times in like 14 fights. That's no coincidence. What happens when he really steps up the competition? I know he's exciting as hell because of his style but the guy thinks way too offensively for me to think that he's just going to be able to run over top competition without them throwing accurate punches back and timing him coming in. Bums have timed him and he's been down 4 times.
