Gamboa won by 4th round knockout vs. Whyber Garcia on the Latin Fury PPV card, before JuanMa barely retained his title vs. Mtagwa.

Here's James Slater's article: So, Now Who'll Start Favourite When Yuriorkis Gamboa and Juan Manuel Lopez Clash?

(BTW, does anyone know which poster is James if he posts in the Forum?)

There's nothing like Gamboa's short punches!

However, his hands are so short he has to jump in everytime he wants to deliver punches, and that gives an extra time for the opponent to get into defesive mode. I think Gamboa should fight at a shorter range, use less foot but more upper body movement and set up punches like any other top fight, using the jab etc. There's so much to learn from Tyson for example. Someone like John is too good on the defensive to be 'fooled' by jumping in, you gotta set the offense properly. But handspeed, power and mobility was all there, including defense... so Gamboa is improving as a pro...

Is Gamboa distracted before dangerous Mtagwa fight?

Yuriorkis Gamboa was a no-show at yesterday's final press conference for the Satruday HBO double-header which makes us worries about his focus. Rogers Mtagwa gave absolute hell to JuanMa who barely survived vs. the tough journeman and Gamboa shouldn't underestimate the Tanzanian Tiger. Let's just hope Yuri's focus is 100%.
