Like the title states! This public poll / thread is for us to make predictions on Gamboa's career. Considering he is seen as one of, if not the, top prospect in boxing right now, I thought it would be cool for us to debate and guess on how successful he will be in the next few years or whether or not he will collapse and never be a great champion. So then we can look back, and see who was right and who was wrong.
Considering that he went pro at such an old age, and with so much amateur experience, I wouldn't doubt that he is on the fast track toward world title fights within the next couple of years.

Now the sooner you make your prediction , the better. Even if you are not sure , just give your honest opinion of how you see him turning out. I will bump this thread frequently , especially around when he fights.

My prediction- I think he will rule 126 and then move up to 130 where he will do well, but be a much weaker champ. Within 3 years I guess he will be top 5 p4p!

Totally a guess, but I can see it happening ( HOPE THAT CHIN HOLDS UP )

Once his Offense stops being his Defense - he's going to seriously be a problem. He's very entertaining and has great skills - it's his defense that has me worried. He has a very good chance at becoming World Champ and staying there for a while. Looking forward to seeing great things from this one.

I think he'll be an exctiting world titlist, but will be a star who fades quickly.

Other - He'll be a top 10 P4P AND he'll get brutally KOed. I'm guessing the KO comes first, and he comes back with better balance and defense because of it.

The thing is, all options can happen in the same career. Ask Jones Jr.

Before Gamboa even had 1 career fight under his belt I told this forum that this guy would be P4P King and champion, mainly because I've followed him since his amatuer days in Cuba due to having a relative of mines train him a few times, and then seeing him in the Olympics, He now has 12 fights and incredible hype known as the best prospect in boxing so I wont change my mind now. Gamboa will become a legend, believe me.

top 10 p4p and world champ who guarantees pure excitement....he'll be one of the biggest stars in boxing because of his all action style but unfortunately this same fighting style will lead to him getting KO'd and losing every now and then cause he takes risks which in turn makes him all the much more exciting.

BUT- when people look back they will remember and rate RJJ based on His prime.. so I guess lets just speculate on the highest level of achievement Gamboa will reach

his chin has been exposed...not far back he fought some brazilian dude dont remember his name was known for not being heavy handed and not having many ko wins yet he managed to drop him, hes been dropped quite a few times by average punchers...big heart though came back up and has knocked these same people out..dont know if he can take a world class punchers best shot and get back up like that

I think he falls because he's too much involved and becomes off-balanced. Not so sure it is a chin issue. We'll see.

ya the knockdowns I have seen , seem more to be the fact that he was off balance and got caught. He never seem to have shaky legs or do the chicken dance.... Plus , every time he has been down, he immediately gets up and attacks likes a madman

Just get the feeling watching him fight that he's KO material. I'd like to see him fight Guerrero. That would be a great indicator of things to come.
