Absolutely true. And to the thread starter, just because 800 people think Jones will win doesn't take away from the fact that he's reaching B-Hop in terms of age, his skills are thoroughly diminished (the guy won decisions over fighters he would've starched in his prime like Hanshaw and Adamu, and he has touched the canvas for good TWICE, with the second one leaving him unconscious for minutes. After that, he was dominated for 12 rounds by Tarver the second time, who made him run. AND all of this happened awhile ago.

    Calzaghe will whup Roy.

But no credit at all for Joe.

He will be a huge underdog, so yes Jones beating Calzaghe would mean a lot. Calzaghe will get a good payday here, but as far as legacy goes, this is very little reward for what could be a pretty big risk.

Yeah, it means that Calzaghe's legacy becomes tainted with the stain of losing to a way-past-his-prime fighter...especially when JC had the chance to fight the middleweight champ in Pavlik.

For Jones, it means one more shot at Tarver. (Does the public really need to see this AGAIN? Don't worry, HBO will make that decision for you and forcefeed it down your throats...still, likelihood of this happening is 10-1)

I disagree. If Jones some how pulls this off, I perosnally feel RJJ fighting Hopkins is actually a possiblity for a change. B-Hop has to beat Pavlik and Jones has to beat Calzaghe, both will be underdogs here, but if they both pull out the win, I see this fight happening before Jones-Tarver IV. More $$$, the history is actually more interesting in a fight with Hopkins than Tarver, and it would be a much bigger hyped fight if both are coming off what appear to be unexpected wins. Then again, these two putting their egos aside will always be difficult, so even if the unlikely happens, the negotiations for Jones-Hopkins II would be tough.

Then maybe he wouldn't have waited until his mid 30's to fight someone of importance.

No, and you need to stop using this as reasoning because it's utter bull****.

If one man is a heavy favorite and he wins, what does he gain? Not much. Everyone knew he was going to win.

If one man is a heavy underdog and wins, what does he gain? A lot, because he proved everyone wrong by defeating someone virtually no one thought he could.

It's logic, you need to use it and not just accuse people of being bias simply because you are.

I agree with this- because it's ****ing plain obvious to any boxing fan who has followed RJJ's career. Ridiculous thread. Blasphemy.

It's interesting so many are picking Jones, usually out of sheer hate for the best fighter of the last 25 years, Joe "Legend Killer" Calzaghe.

Presumably everybody is going to have to man up and give Joe major props for this win :yep

It ain`t bull****. The ammount of Americans on this board riding on Pavliks jock when he`s been a world champion less than a year and hasn`t fought Abraham(IBF) and Strum(WBA) is unbelievable!! You`ve got him a superstar already. A lot of people on this board hate Calzaghe because he destroyed American next boxing superstar(Lacy). If Calzaghe fights Pavlik after Jones and beats him 90% ofthis board will need to be placed on suicide watch!!

Don't ****ing say I've got him a superstar already. Other people, people who don't really know boxing and follow trends and are adapt at the art of nuthugging have made him a so called "superstar", simply because they have does not mean that every American has, yet you seem to always believe that whenever someone says something negative about the career and legacy of Calzaghe that's simply becuase of American bias, even when you are presented with facts that you never seem to try and argue.

You said it was the "old classic American spin" when in fact it is the difference between a considerable favorite winning and a heavy underdog winning. No one apart from his most dilusional fans believe Roy is one of the top 50 P4P boxers in the world right now, his last win over a legit world class fighter was 5 years ago, where as everyone sees Calzaghe as a top 3 in the sport. If a top 3 guy beats someone who is 0-3 against all of the top fighters he's fought in the past 4 years does it really impress you? How about if that guy who is 0-3 beats a man recognized as a top 3 P4P by everyone and as #1 by several people.

Don't blame someone disagreeing with you on bias, because IT IS BULL****.

I am a massive RJJ fan, I am not a Calzaghe fan, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I think Calzaghe will win this VERY VERY EASILY. But I will give him ZERO credit whatsoever, same as I would give Dawson or Tarver or Johnson ZERO credit for beating him if they fought now.

If Calzaghe fights Pavlik and beats him (a young hungry undefeated top 10 p4p guy), I will give him ALL the credit in the world, because he would deserve it for that.
