Then if Calzaghe wins, he has proved his greatness...

There is an anti British/European bloc on this board. In one thread a dullard slated Abraham because "he won`t leave his own backyard" although his last fight was in Florida. Of coarse all of Pavliks fights have been in the US but he didn`t care to mention that. It`s a typical attitude of a lot of the US nuts on the board. Euro fighter(bum, fought nobody) American fighter(legend, great resume)

Euro fighter (must travel to prove himself) American fighter (doesn`t have to travel to prove himself) :patsch

    That's good for you.

However I was specifically addressing the many Jones pickers. Surely they'll have to man up when their boy gets his ass beat around the ring won't they?

Well, they won't. It will be Hopkins all over again, we had a good percentage of the board picking him and very few of them were man enough to admit their error and give praise accordingly, rather they would simply try to dig their way out of a hole by shitting on Calzaghe.

There are plenty of Americans who are anti-European when it comes to boxing, but they're all morons. When someone makes a comment like "Calfaggy is a fraud and a *****" then yes, their completely bias towards fighters from their own countries and therefor should not be taken seriously.

I said Calzaghe beating Jones would be meaningless but if Jones can beat Calzaghe it would mean a lot, and you blamed this comment on some American bias that you for some reason percieved me to have, despite the fact that you have no idea who I am.

If Tyson had beat Douglas, that direct result has no impact on either man's legacy because every rational person felt going in that Tyson would win. Douglas beating Tyson is huge, and makes a massive difference on both men's legacy, because no one in their right mind expected it.

While Calzaghe isn't as big a favorite over Jones as Tyson was over Douglas, he is still a heavy favorite and virtually everyone who sees reality believes he will win, so if he does it means basically nothing.

its more historically significant b/c the two of them have been around for so long. but calzaghe deserves some credit if he beats RJJ but nowhere near as much as if he had beat RJJ in his prime. Especially since the fight is taking place in America and not Wales.

Sorry but Calzaghe gets no credit whatsoever for this win and I'm saying this months before the fight. Calzaghe had to wait for Jones to get BEYOND shot to sign the papers, otherwise if Jones was even 20% of what he was Joe would NOT sign to fight him.

Joe has nothing to win and a lot to lose in this fight, considering how shot Jones really is he will get a lot of credit if he is able to pull it off. Joe took this fight based on money and a guarantee win, low risk high reward type of fight. The majority of people picking Jones here are people doing so based on hope, I'll be picking Jones based on hope too but deep down inside I know how shot he really is and know it's only a matter of rounds before Jones runs out of gas and doesn't throw much at all.

Yep, from me also. I hope he stays retired and that a few others of the older fighters retire also. They should let the younger fighters take their place.

It would mean that age has cought Joe and that he´s as shot as Jones or Trinidad.

That's why Jones will pull off the upset ..I doubt Jones takes the stepping stone route .Joe though has secured his legacy at super middle ..This fight only means more 0's at the end of his check .

Yes, there is but there is also some nuthugging of European posters of European fighters. And you should be able to see when some one has some reasoning behind his posts and is quite opjective like "the cobra".
Also you are very biased toward certein fighters, so you shouldn´t be the one starting to throw stones.

I picked Calzaghe because of his workrate, just like I do now pick Pavlik, but thought Hopkins beat Joe 114-113. so, I admit my mistake of picking Joe.

Yes Eubank was ancient when he fought Calzaghe - he was 31

Yes Eubank was shot when he fought Calzaghe - he lost only twice on points at that point in his career.

    Go back to sleep Loewe
