I know he wasn't, but I was directing him to the evidence I had just posted to support the claim he made.

Joe was only an underdog (by popular consent) for the Lacy fight. He was a slight favourite with the bookies for Kessler and a clear favourite for his fight with Hopkins. I haven't checked the upcoming betting odds for his fight with Jones but I'd be suprised if he isn't favourite again.

You're distorting the picture a bit, ain't ya? :bart

Oh and PACFAN, you really think Hopkins showed the better skill in the Calzaghe fight? When? The acting skills, yeah I'll give you that, but other than a headbutt-one-two he didnt have ****.

I love the way you can actually feel the hate here for Joe. All Joe is doing is fullfilling his dreams, he wanted both Nard and Jones back when no one cared who he was n they ignored him. He's settling a personal score that also comes with massive monetary reward. Also everybody needs to realise that its a fight so literally anything can happen. That said Joe starts as slight faveroute but there both old n have both declined the past 3-4 years. And all this 'Joe would not sign to fight him' ****? Jones admits Joe's camp made an offer, a few times and he turned them down. 'He wasnt on my rader' he said as the reason he turned down the offers. You could at least be reasonable instead of making **** up.

PACFAN84 your a ****** that spends all his time making up stupid, but inventive threads to discredit Calzaghe. It seems to be your sole aim in life. You need to let go man n stop being so angry. Your so biased only the actual verifed haters agree with you, the rest of the people that just dont like Joe atleast accept his ability they just think he never fullfilled his true potential.

    You silly, silly little man.

If only you actually bothered to read these threads in full, you would see that I am often complimentary about Joe Calzaghe's talent and ability, and I often reveal my own personal objective rating of him:

    - I think he is justifiably p4p#2 in the world right now, BUT he will drop to #3 for me if JM Marquez beats Casamayor while Calzaghe is involved in this sorry money-making exercise with RJJ. That's legitimate IMO.

    - I think he is 1 of the top 5 British fighters ever

    - I think he is top 10-15 of his own era/generation

    - I think he has always had great talent and ability, but wasted the vast majority of his career and never chased or got the big fights til it was too late to see him become an ATG

Is that hatred? Is that bias? Clearly it is neither. It is objective opinion.

I only post so often on the subject as I think there is so much extreme overrating going on on here, of a guy with his level of resume.

Save your petty insults and abuse for an irrational hater that deserves it, I have strong objective opinions on most boxing matters and will never be ashamed to air them.

Hops. did have more stamina until this fight. Calzaghe is uncanny @ tming a guy who has never gassed before fighting him but gasses against him. It's one of his greatest assets.

I wish Calzaghe retired already so we didn't have to read all these ******ed threads about him. When its all said and done Calzaghe will not be remembered, except by fanatical Brits. Let it go.

What you are saying is nonsense and bull****. The man in my avatar is a 5 division champion and Jones is a 4-division world champion starting from Middleweight all the way to heavyweight. Not to forget that Jones is well-known for his legendary skills and domination at LHW, you even think for a minute that Joe would consider a fight with Jones?, they tried to get that fight but injuries from Joe and a demand for Jones to come to Wales got Jones to not waste any time with his guy and move up to LHW and dominate there. To make it clear who the hell was Joe Calzaghe was to demand for fighters to go to Wales?, let's be honest here, what the hell has he done to demand ANYTHING at that point?, if anything he should greatful that someone like Jones is giving him a big fight like that, it should also be Calzaghe the one running after the serious fights, sadly it was never the case.

What did Joe Calzaghe exactly do?, fight an endless list of tomato cans in Wales and only arrive on the big scene when everyone is rotten old?, sorry I do acknowledge Joe's skills in the ring but when it comes to resume this guy loses to almost every big name he's put against. You know there's a serious problem when a new guy like Lacy arrives on the scene and captures the #1 spot in just a few fights till Calzaghe took it from him. If the tomato cans he beat in Wales really meant a lot then why wasn't he considered the real #1 fighter before Lacy got to him?

You also know there's a serious problem when a guy like Kessler arrives on the scene and nearly unifies with Calzaghe already being there.

When it comes to skills no one can deny Joe is great in that department but when it comes to resume he fails and fails miserably. Take a look at Floyd's resume and compare it with Calzaghe's, take a look at Jones' resume and compare it with Calzaghe's. It's very easy, boxrec should help right there.

Also I've said this before and don't think many will disagree, the reason why Joe didn't fight Jones in his prime nor even try to make that fight is obvious, Jones would've completely thrashed him and made short work out of him. The only reason the fight is signed now is because Jones isn't even 1% of what he was and is considered a safe fight, otherwise even if he was 20% they won't consider it, especially with Calzaghe being 37 because if Jones was 20% or even shows glimpses of that, Calzaghe will get destroyed. They know very well that this won't happen in this fight and not even for 1 round or even 1 second, that's why they finally signed for it and are willing to also travel for it, wonder why traveling for it was out of the question when Jones was in his prime?, don't think it should be complicated anymore.

Jones is not 1% of the fighter he once was, thats bs he still has good hand speed for a start.
Its like they are going to push jones into the ring in a wheelchair the way everyone is talking. Both guys are past their best, Jones further than Calzaghe.

Calzaghe back in the day is not a good fight for Roy, more risk than reward for Roy when he can make the same money fighting bums. Roy would beat Joe prime for prime. I am not sure that it would be a 1-2 round decimation that everyone predicts though.

I think Calzaghe will UD jones but I think Jones can make it a decent contest.
