I like him. He posts a blog on his website which is decent reading occasionally. Although he is a little obsessed with world rankings. There's a diary from his time at the Mayweather gym in Boxing Monthly this month. (You can read it on his website too).
I just think he gave Garcia problems because Garcia underrated him but also because he has somewhat of an awkward style. I dont necessarily think that was a sign that he's at that level though. Although I do think he should of got the nod over Garcia. To me its more about the fact he's awkward enough to give Garcia problems. However I dont know if he would be effective if they fought again what with Garcia knowing what to expect and all.
I think he's just under world class but above European level, the kind of fighter that hangs around the top 15 of the division and will give the vast majority of fighters a tough night. He proved his class against Garcia, with the right opposition i believe much like Olusegun he could cetainly make a bit of noise.
Looked poor last time out, Ben Murphy gave him all he could handle and if he wasn't fighting off a week or so's notice, I reckon would possibly have had the fitness to last the rest of the fight and beat him.
From my area of north london so obviously follow & rate him!Self promoted most of his career & only recently getting some recognition over here. Will never fight Olusegen as others have posted very good friends. The Garcia decision was very close but don't forget he beat De marcus Corley who had a fine win at the weekend. Actually an easy bloke to talk to when you get to know him & if you ask him something in the gym only happy to give advice. He has only recently signed with Hatton & hope he now makes some decent money as self promoting & selling your own tickets etc is not easy without backing. When he won the british title took it back to his local gym the all stars & showed all the young kids that train there that hard work & dedication can pay off. Seems to be improving & has a really good skill set & has never been down but is a slow starter in fights the Murphy & Daws fights back that up. Will be a tough fight against Ste Williams & i believe he will have too much ringcraft for him biased i know!I then believe should he win unless he rematches Daws he will vacate.:thumbsup
Garcia is simply not very good. Whether he underrated Ashley or otherwise, I'd back Theophane to give him all he could handle in a rematch. Danny's flat footed and throws in bursts, anyone that can fill in the gaps and has a bit of movement beats him. Nip and tuck with an ancient Morales, says it all. Theophane has the style to make him look bad because Danny needs you to oblige him, show him some movement (and Ashley is very awkward and difficult to pin down) and he's not got many answers.
