The risk of looking bad for a while, sure. Risk of losing...not a chance. Anwar has an awful chin, even matching up against a reasonably light puncher like Theophane. He thinks he can avoid punches by reflexes but he clearly can not.
I know he's had a few fights that he has considered crossroads fights and they haven't gone his way, so not too surprised to hear that. He didn't really have many opportunities in his early career, and it led to him taking some very tough matchups. I used to train down at their gym and you couldn't wish to meet a nicer pair than him and his dad Baz. Not really cut out for an era of trash talking and padding out records with easy fights though!
is this the prizefighter winner? a mate of mine was sparring him the other day,by the sound of it,he handled him quite easy, can't go much off sparring, but if it is him of prizefighter,i kinda agree he not that good
Iron Chin i told you Theophane would turn it down!. Theophane's playing it smart but coming from guy who basically talked like winning British title and defending it would be a simple walk in park before going onto world titles i think he's shown that he knows he can be beaten at this level.
u were bang on mate, the funny thing is he has just put out a statement saying this bloke he is fighitng now is more of a test then Anwar will ever be, so it sounds like he wont be facing him anytime soon.
Theophane doesn't want to take any risky fights domestically, yet he'll happily do them in America. Strange lad. Apparently he's previously said that under no circumstances will Woodhouse get a shot, and now with him needing an opponent Curtis has received the call, which was turned down. Judging by his performance against Murphy, albeit at late notice, you'd have to fancy Woodhouse to at least be very competitive, if not do a job on him.
I was on a wind up anyway, probably deserved it Tis a bit of a disappointing if understandable move by Theophane, you always want the best possible fights. Would of been an interesting fight, but you can see why he wouldn't bother with somebody that awkward at domestic level on such short notice. Not much up side to it.
Theophane just said on Twitter that he's got a IBF eliminator offered to him on June 22nd apparently in America...
